  • Let him know, he can easily get GCash, they authorized mine with just a tourist card. Iโ€™m sure his 13a? Visa would be more than enough to get verified(globe at a mall would probably be the easiest way)
    Happy canโ€™t be bought,,,
Glad heโ€™s doing well and should always check up on his gov pensions yearly.. might be due 100 percent now and missing out for no reason..

  • If he was born before 1967 he can collect full SS at 65 or 67 if you are born after 67 you cant collect 100%until you hit 70 .

  • Get your SS you’ll miss out on 10’s of thousands. You should at least get 1,800 a month. No such thing as 30% or 40% SS. This does not add up

    • Victor had been out of touch, a little, I believe. We are working on fact checks and help him

    • โ€‹. If he’s 62 he can claim his amount. He can make an account and check what he’d get. The small difference to wait is nil. I waited till 63 andc1/2 and lost more than 10k

  • Seems like a genuine guy. Very open, clear communication, speaks well and i love the country accent cuz im from the south as well lol

  • He keeps waving his whatever toothpick and stick it in his mouth again while talking , that was gross! Hopefully his saliva doesnโ€™t fly over to the interviewer.

  • My opinion is that it is usually better to start drawing Social Security at age 62, as a lot of people don’t make it to the full benefits age. Also unless something changes, the monthly amount will decrease by 25 percent in 2034.

  • My calculation only, if you take your SS now, ex. $1k monthly x 12= $12k x 5 years=260.714 weeks $60K he is giving up. With a minor if he takes it now will be additional amount.

  • Take your Social Security now, tomorrow is never promised. With minor children is an added amount

  • 67 – 1/2 years = 100% ( or full) Social Security benefit amount but for every year he delays filing itโ€™s an extra 8% per year until age 70. No advantage to wait after 70 years of age. Also, the VFW might be able to help him look into VA benefits.

    • I’m aN Army retired, many soldiers did take the severance pay, I decided not to take the money, they offered me $100,000 dollars before taxes I said nope, this guy could have retired as a Major that’s a field grade officer, maybe he got a low rating evaluation, I’m thankful I spent 20 years acitve service, he is not eligible for VA benifits unless he has a service connected disability.

  • Hi Derek, i think he needs your expertise and knowledge to help him get full Social security which i’m sure he is already entitled to. Maybe an approach to Veterans Affairs at the US Embassy at Manila will be rewarding for him as a Veteran. Bob. NZ. Veteran.

    • Yes sir, Bob. This video is our 1st (discovery). I intend to seek wisdom from Paul and others to plan a trip to Manila to get Victor situated.

    • โ€‹@qadventurestake Paul’s contact at embassy. But not necessarily his expertise

  • Hi Mate just watched this,,,Be careful as he said he had a 13A Visa,,, Thing is they are seperated and 13A Visa stops when that happens…. He is is working for the police,,, How ??????,, he is on a standard tourist visa no and cant work,,,, obviously never told anyone…. Dont give money,,, be careful.

    • In the philippines law they’re still married even if they each other seperated..remember there’s no devorce in the Philippines and I don’t think they applied for annulment which is very expensive to do…Don’t jusdge a person by just watching him in a video…

  • I retire now if I was him because itโ€™ll take him eight years to show the difference I wanted to get by waiting that long. Thereโ€™s so many people to watch. Theyโ€™ll tell you to draw it at 62.

  • Thank you for your service sir! He’s a totally boss – love his personality! โ™ฅ

    • Not at all I met a ton of people who got pushed out of the military. My dad got out in the 90’s and later after 2012.

    • @@soulbreakerthelastmanaliveI served from 87-95 and a lot of my supervisors were forced out or options for buy out. Lots of good guys took the money and ran. Very legitimate info heโ€™s giving.

    • @KimmyPatย  Well he says later he did green to gold after making it to SSGT and then got out as a Major. And no retirement after working 11 years a military contractor. Honestly I don’t know how you can’t get anything after doing all that. And he probably gets something from VA and retirement due to being a military contractor.

  • Social Security 70% + at 62 yrs old / 80% + at 65 yrs. old and 100% at 67 yrs old and 110% at 70 yrs old capped at that and must have 40 Quarters of verified Work paid into and have to wait 2 Months After your Birthday to apply based on what you put in.
But as you say Derek Best to Earn US Dollars and spend Peso —
Like a Plumber making $500 day VS Filipino Plumber at $500 peso ($10 usd) as No-Brainer if Money was the factor as
4.5 Million Filipino OFW in USA right now are there for that Major reason (They can support a couple families on remittance)
But we Expats come to Philippines for Multitude of Reasons: some for Peace, some for women, some to escape the rat race
I can appreciate his assimilating into the Filipino culture and leading a super simple lifestyle but with that also comes the drawback as you pointed out of NO safety net. But he’s Happy & being part of the community they might help him.
I personally couldn’t do it as I Want a Hybrid lifestyle and enjoy the freedom to choose so if i go to a native house for a week vacation on the beach i can but if i want to stay in a nice condo and go out to eat a steak or sushi i can do that too.

  • He can travel to any vfw and get help with va benifits come do it in angles city Philippines

  • The gentleman you had on from traffic control he is entitled to as now!! At 66 has 75% at 70 100%.

  • example, a person born in 1960 would get 100% of her monthly benefit if she retired at age 67. If she waited until age 70, her monthly benefit would be 124%. Once again, the SSA website can show the potential benefit should you choose to wait.Jan 17, 20

  • individuals born in 1960 or later, the age to receive 100% of their Social Security benefits (full retirement age) is 67. This age is increasing gradually for those born between 1955 and 1960. For those born before 1955, the full retirement age is 66 or earlier.
    Here’s a more detailed breakdown:

  • If yiu worked FMS and were a mojor you should know you need to claim SS now .
Born in 1960 or later: Full retirement age is 67.
Born between 1955 and 1959: Full retirement age increases gradually from 66 to 67.
Born before 1955: Full retirement age is 66 or earlier.
Social Security benefits can be claimed as early as age 62, but this will result in a permanent reduction in the monthly benefit amount. Waiting to claim benefits until after full retirement age, and up to age 70, will result in a monthly benefit increase.

    • Yes. I think victor is aware of that, but I think your information is more accurate than his. I will analyze all these information with him i feel he is missing out

  • I spent 21 years in active duty from 1978. The information heโ€™s putting about his military service sounds sketchy at best. I donโ€™t see the Army kicking a Major after only 16 yrs of service unless there were extenuating circumstances. I donโ€™t believe heโ€™s being honest, irrelevant of his current situation. Jussayinโ€™

    • It’s not a “story”. It’s his perception from a guy that has not been back to the states for years and years

    • @qadventuresย  Maybe he only paid into SS when he was in the Army so now he wants to increase from $107 with age?

  • Australian prices- This week 12 large eggs= 10 AUD- One pack of 20 cigarettes $40

    • For someone like you and I, it’s easy to navigate because we have experience. For someone with no Philippines experience or travel experience, using remitly is complicated

  • R.I.F. Reduction In Force. The Kuwait part sounds legit. I spent time in Kuwait and their were a lot of former American military or retired who worked their before and during the Iraq work. Also, tons of Filipino’s have been and are still in Kuwait. If one goes to a mall in Kuwait easy chance one will run into a Filipina.

  • Yes, for this age bracket, he hits 100% at age 67.5. Don’t wait, pull the money now. You can die at 72 and get nothing.

    • No man. Dude’s been down on his luck, don’t kick him. He works for the filipino government, chances of him being on drugs is slim to zilch

  • If you assume an average age of death for male is 76 then do the math of what you take at 62 vs waiting until 67. They are very close in total drawn by death so draw now.

    • 100%. I worked as a life agent for many years. Many people are too optimistic as to think they will live to 200. That’s a reality i think victor has to consider

  • I don’t buy his story, E-6 then a LT then almost LT colonel. How was he able to work in a call center legally. Am I missing something here?

    • No. Watch the video again. He has a 13a visa, then applied for a work permit BEFORE senior age.

    • @qadventures He has to be a Filipino citizen to work, also he never mentioned that he applied for OCS to be an officer. I had many friends that were contractors in Kuwait the longest they ever stayed as a defence contractor was 3 yrs once the war was over. I just don’t buy his story. I heard what you heard he was married for 3 yrs in the US, then he changed the story. I’m sorry I just don’t believe his story. then bragging he had a mistress living with him and his wife. what a scumbag

    • @@rayray2076 You have to actually GO to OCS school and training. I doubt he did. Just applied for it. He exaggerates quite a bit.

  • If he was a โ€œcontractorโ€ his total 5 years of work should give him a very high social security even if he takes it early. I smell a rat.

  • E-6 to Lieutenant to Major to (almost) Lieutenant Colonel.
    In 16 years. SURE !

  • My father never got 1nred cent from SS , he died before he could file so I am not taking any chances, filed at 62 just waiting for it to kick in.

  • I’m quite impressed with this guy’s simplicity. Yes he made some mistakes, but he owns up to make life worthwhile

  • How did this guy ever get accepted into OCS? He sounds like he’s hitting the pipe every night.

  • Taking ssa at age 62 is about 30% less than taking it at 67…..google it …67 is the Full Benefit but you can exceed that by waiting to age 70.

  • If I am him I will collect SS Benefits at age 65 then asking $60 heโ€™s good men but still

  • Damn. The voice sounds so familiar. We came the same time and we took the same path. The f he were in combat arms, then we have crossed paths. I retired. I still have a war baby to send to school. Building a simple pad in my hometown somewhere in region 1. Been there done that!

  • Hey bud, Iโ€™ll look you up in December. Damn dude, simplicity is my key to contentment. That simpe polypro under the BDU was comfort in a cold, rainy Bragg night!

  • The Major lives in a shack and took work in a call center. ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚. Stop it.

  • Wonderful candid interview. Well done! I’m glad I found, and subscribed to your channel today.

  • There is more to his story, 16 years in the Military. I don’t buy it. Having to work for DoD as a contractor in a foreign country, you will get a pretty penny from that, and if he said he got a lump sum from the Army, then he should have been really well off.
