The retirement option I was looking at was sitting in the bar every day drinking myself to death. Then I realized (thanks YT) I could stretch my savings (with a small disability) until my small pension kicked in, stretch until small 401k at 59+1/2, then stretch until SS at 62+1/2. I quit drinking (7 mos now), quit my job, sold everything (not much) and came over here to the PH. Never looked back, no regrets for same reasons you just talked about.

Good words brother. I hope to retire at 59 1/2 (less than 2 years from now). I’ll withdraw from my Roth IRA if needed. I used to be a welder at a shipyard over 30 years ago. Now, I’m in an engineering group for the same company. After getting laid off as a welder, I told myself that I would never do it again unless it was for my own business. Well, close to 30 years later, I built a tig welding shop in my house and to weld aluminum for people.

QTR= Quality Time Remaining! 67 is out of the question for the little amount difference you may get. That’s why I went to the Philippines at 59! I realize everyone can’t do that but, If you can you need to!
