Wow, Derek. What a sad story you discovered! Im not sure what that journey would cost with hospital diagnostics, let alone open heart surgery to repair a hole in the heart. I suspect these people would need an escort just to navigate that socio/economic medical complexity. Someone would need to hold their hand every step of the way to force these tea drinking elite doctors to even take them seriously.
I also suspect this may be a long recovery and lifetime maintenance. This event isnt over when the kid wakes up from surgery.
Do you think the parents actually understand whats going on here?
She’s 20 yrs old, I highly doubt she understands the magnitude and the future upkeep of even a successful surgery. We intend to travel with them out of our own pocket to assist them for the reasons you described
Jan. The 2nd child is healthy as far as we know. And in the Philippines, you never know. They just have to show up in Manila and chase down the specialist. I speculate as I don’t go to Manila. The 2 times I went, I only went for 1 day or 2, get what I need to get done and move on. I plan on them being there for 1 week and half or 2 weeks
Sound so strange. A whole in the heart and only 50% change of servive…… My daughter have done 2 heart surgeries. First 3 weeks old and then 6 years old. He need to be seen by a proper doctor !
The doctor said Skyler has less than a 50 percent chance of surviving UNLESS he undergoes open heart surgery. And that the only place that can offer such medical procedures in in Manila. Also. Skyler has a blockage somewhere and needs to have an angiogram done to locate the blockage which according to his doctor will also be in Manilla
@@estrellitawilson2804 thanks for the explanation. I saw on the internet some org that help kids with heart problems in Phil. Hopefully they can get in contact and get some help with the little boy. ❤
Derek you may want to check out the Doctors without borders Philippines chapter. They may be able to take care of the child without charge. They go all over the world operating on people cliff palette, cataracts and many other things.✌️❤️🙏🙏🙏🇺🇸
Derek, I did a search online and an article about a Cam Sur Paediatric Cardiovascular Dr Eloisa Claveria Barrion appeared. She does those operations regularly to save families from having to go to Manila, the operations are done in Bicol medical centre, Naga city.
It may be worth checking it out. The article was written on the Ph news agency.
If you Type in her name the government article should come up.
Obviously there are other options than having to travel to Manila and cheaper too.
Good luck😊🙏🏼
An Angiogram looks for the blockage in blood vessels. A dye is injected, normal procedure done in Xray department. A heart specialist would examine the child and do tests to see what treatment for the child is necessary. Hole in the heart is a common defect in newborns, and most children with it won’t survive into adulthood so having it medically assessed now is the first step. They are used to living in the slums, so a basic room rented near to hospital will probably suffice and that won’t cost much at all, probably less than $40 for a month, that will seem luxurious to them. The length of time the family would have to stay all depends on the doctor’s assessment and if surgery is required, which surgery. Payment will be for each step, doctor’s consultation, and each test, ten doctor’s decision after tests then operation if advised.
FYI, just donated $50 USD towards this fundraiser (from A.M.) but, unlike when I donate by Paypal to other vloggers, your setup doesn’t appear to have anywhere to write a note to let you know what the PP transfer is for, so that’s why I’m posting this comment…
St. Luke’s in Manila is one of the Best in Asia for those needing a Heart operation or even an evaluation, and Pray and Hope Rosila is somehow able to make this major trip as this is a heartbreaking situation. You know i will step up and Donate quietly. The dark fingernails show the Skylar is NOT getting enough Oxygen to his blood and heart as “Cyanosis” and can lead to a heart failure so this child is in Desperate need Now as I hope this video gets seen by allot of people

I wonder how could doctors ignore that child’s condition without doing something ..Is that the money important to doctors than human life…What kind of doctors are they ? They have to create some system for such poor peoples.. Believe it or not some doctors are cold hearted persons😥😥

Derek, do you know if the second child has similar issues? And do you have any idea of how long it might take to see a specialist in Manila?

That’s what we are trying to accomplish. A proper doctor is a 22hr ferry journey away

@RichGPilot please be nice. Nina’s daughter went through it twice, she knows

@qadventures sure but in the Phils it’s not like you can waive your Aetna card at the University Medical center and watch the red carpet roll out.
These people rarely understand the difference between an Advil and chemotherapy.
This is not an easy deal
