  • My aunt (she is from Luzon area) has told me about these locations there they sit on stilts over the high tide of the ocean. Next year, i will be able to see more in person when i go over to live there. Its sad when these collapse and the folks lose pretty much everything.

    • Yes sir! They are some of the most resilient folks that I have ever met. Traveled the world, and the most peace I have ever found was in the “Third-world countries.(Philippines, Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, Vietnam, Panama, and a few others)” The generosity and kindness is abundant in those places.

  • You can tell that the older kids know more English. Love that it’s proof that the locals are smarter than a lot of the untraveled people in other countries. I look forward to seeing a fishing trip and how they collect clams, cause here we go to the beach once a year with shovels to collect clams. Grandma watches over the younger family members while the adults are other cities working. Freaking awesome view form the window. Most people would kill for that view.

    • i grew up spending my time during school holidays in malaysia where there would be like 20 people in a house sleeping on wooden flooring. i remember being wary of spiders, scorpions and flying roaches. we didnt have a toilet so we would do our business by digging the soil. i remember vividly, feeling so happy as a kid, having friends around.

  • Lovely young ladies and such an accomodating community. I wonder if they’d be allowed to start a sustainable aquaculture farm to increase their yields. If they have access to unglazed clay pottery you can set that in an out of the way spot inside and it will act as a heat sink. Only lowers the temperature slightly, but every bit helps.

    • @Q AdventuresI just thought of a gift you can give these types of settlements if you get enough donations to help. There’s a variety of bamboo called Timber Bamboo. They could grow and cultivate that for building material. If they could get a hold of concrete you can even drill the centers out and pour that in to make it durable enough to withstand the bad storms.

    • @mickeystine3100 believe it or not just watching the video and leaving comments and thumbs up will help his channel grow and reach more people.

    • Thank you. I am growing in experience and outlooks. Please share my content with your circle so I may grow and further my philanthropy work and showcase local culture. I am grateful for any and all help

  • @Q Adventures What an awesome vlog bro and letting us see how these people live basically on the sea and how amazing and friendly they are. That’s why i love Filipino people, coz of there friendliness and how they take you in and show you how live and introduce you to there family and friends. It’s such an amazing country and I can’t wait to get back there next year. Keep up the amazing work Dereck and hopefully you get more followers.🙏❤

    • Thank you Mark. That’s the hope. I am itching to further my philanthropy work, but I don’t currently have the views to support that. Please share my videos with your circle of people

    • @Q Adventures Yeah no worries Dereck I understand bro.
I literally can’t understand why so many people view vlogs, but they don’t hit that thumbs up bottom. Anyone I follow on YouTube I always hit the thumbs up and view there vlogs. Your vlogs are awesome, coz it’s cool to see how these people live there lives and so beautiful and friendly they are. I know about province life, coz that’s were my girlfriend is from and I have experienced it twice now already.

    • @Q Adventures Hahaha thank you bro as does you man. Thanks for sharing with us always. Looking forward to the next one.🙏❤

  • Great content. You are quickly becoming a must watch channel for me. I even have been sharing with others the interesting things Im learning .

  • I had a good laugh when you stood over the plywood and wondered if it would support your weight😅 Anyhow, great video Derek. As you said, it seems like such a friendly community. The recurring thing that stands out to me when you’ve done some of the village visits is always the warm smiles of such hardworking locals despite humble living quarters.

  • Thank you so much and have young girls showing the ocean and their homes how they live and thank you so much to the girls cool home😎 you all. Live at it was very nice and the girls were for a nice to and they’re pretty too

    • I hope I didn’t put an emphasis on age and vanity. For obvious reasons, LJ was most fluent and approachable. Jericho had lots of camera time as well

    • @Q Adventures no I am just being nice because I feel very bad how the kids live in Philippines because I care and I have seen lots of Kids got killed in Ukraine 🇺🇦 because Russia are killing every children they seen every day and bombs there homes to every day

    • @William Hawks I don’t think I feel “bad” for how they live because they don’t seem to feel bad for the way they live. Aside from some modern conveniences they seem to have the perfect life. A solid community and family support system, knowledge and skills to live from the earth without outside help. I do feel bad for how they seem to be treated by most outsiders assuming since they don’t have an abundance of money they are less than anyone else when clearly bye watching this video they have much more to offer humanity than most of society judging them.

  • These videos make me want to pack a bag now instead of sticking to my plan. The friendliness and humility is like no other. Do you plan on making more content there? If that’s the case I think both LJ and Jericho (imp sure I spelt it wrong) could be some very valuable resources. If anyone in the Q community is up for projects I have some ideas. First dance your free ice cream video is one of my all time favorites maybe looking into renting or hiring and ice cream truck for all the kids in the neighborhood to have a treat. Second, maybe some new floors and or a bunk bed for LJ’s Grandmas house, that seems very tight quarters and the floors make me nervous and also maybe a fan for poor little Julie, she seems like she takes the heat about as well as me haha.

I see these videos and I reflect back on Marylynn and Gel and the impact your community made in helping, even if it is a small change to some it can be much more than that to those on the other end.

You know from the beginning when I originally reached out it was because I love these culture videos and a look into the lives of other countries in a real world aspect of everyday life but I don’t usually agree with how many expats do it. Where you are different in that you actually care about the culture as well as the people you are filming and try to help if its possible. That’s what makes your content awesome.

So if you are planning on visiting again for content maybe in exchange for showing you and us their culture on a more in depth level we as a community could try to pay it back a little with some small projects. Just my two sense of course.

    • All great thoughts, Doug. I will be in contact the day after tomorrow. Bunk beds will be terrible for this community as the floorboards barely hold my fat butt.

I am meeting Jericho and LJ in about an hour from now. I am just in the observation phase now.

I will be returning to this community to hang with the fishermen for a day to document lifestyle and their fishing process being that they are so lacking in modern tools

  • Hi U2 👋!! BUDHA D I believe this adventure is one of the most amazing experience to have 👍🙏. WOW!! The friendly kind hearted people of the Philippines 🇵🇭 is such a beautiful quality they have!! Always polite, smiling, and very inviting to there homes 🏡. Beautiful young ladies. So nice to take time and share there homes 🏡 there lifestyle, and just being happy with what little they got. AMAZING ADVENTURE BRO 🙏. Blessings 🙏🌸🌼

    • @Q Adventures yea that’s a valid point. Also, where I live I purchased and old farmhouse on a few acres several years ago. I tore down an old garage and a couple old buildings. I dug a hole and burned it, tore out some half dead trees. I watch your vids thinking of how much we waste, I wasted. It is what it is, I guess, but that village could have built a few more houses with the crap I dumped.

    • @loner reclaimed wood is very popular now and fetching top dollar. the old saying is they just don’t make it like they used to and that goes for wood to. the old stuff without all the poisons that’s almost petrified from natural aging. Oh well, you live and learn.

    • @𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 live and learn….it was junk. It’s not like it was 200yr old barn beams. Trust me, I know the value of it all.

  • I admire that young man. So proud to be a Pilipino and above all so humble. Yes, no matter what, there will always be a smile and happiness. Like the young man said, we thank you for understanding. learning and spreading our true culture. Thank you!

    • In any other part of the world, yes. But apparently, these kids get bullied and casted out from friends BECAUSE they live in such a neighborhood

    • @qadventures  that’s heartbreaking to hear. No body can help who there born to, or what conditions they live under. People can be very cruel… children especially so

  • Executives from L’Oréal shampoo should travel there and hire all 4 of those young ladies for their advertising. They all have such beautiful hair. LJ was a great communicator.

    • @artkane6546 I would bet my life that they all have hair that beautiful because they use a more natural way of washing it then all the chemicals found in L’Oréal lol.

    • @𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 please don’t bet your life. Maybe Derek could ask the girls what shampoo they use. I would bet it’s a little sachet they buy at a sari-sari store. I just used L’Oréal as an example.

    • @Art Kane oh don’t get me wrong I have nothing against shampoo. I use Pantene and I’m sure its loaded with chemicals to I just assume they use something more natural if for no other reason than the expense of American brands there

  • this is so humbling and makes you really appreciate living in america and we take advantage of what we have .i really respect them for always have a good heart and not complaining about anything.❤

    • I would’ve walked if money was asked. Takes away genuinity. I did contribute to LJ and Jericho’s college funds after the fact though

    • @Q Adventures How did you make sure your donation will go to their college funds, and not to something else that the parents want?

  • What a joy to visit and chat with those respectful young ladies and their families. So kind of them to share their homes with us here.

  • wow such lovely friendly kind hearted people it was just inspirational watching your video it is also wonderful to see a community living in harmony and peace thank you so much for your insights

    • I wouldn’t have the opportunity to create this without their acceptance. It is them that need to be acknowledged and thanked. I’m just the dude with the camera

    • I would rather live the life they do and be happy rather than the life here in America… where we work our fingers to the bone just to barely afford food and housing and live a life full of stress……. We could learn so much from Filipinos and how you don’t have to have the nicest things just to be happy.

    • @Sway376 I’m American, and retired. But when I was working, along with my wife, were were lower middle class… not rich at all. But, we still have our home paid off, cars paid off, and have a decent savings. I didn’t mind working my fingers to the bone because I can finally relax in my old age, and at the same time, help poor people like the Filipinos when I can. Hard workers are the same everywhere. We just have different jobs. I don’t believe that poor, hard working Filipinos don’t live without stress, just because they’re friendly and happy. The children, with good parents, are oblivious to that stress, unless they lose a beloved family member.

  • I love Filipinas. Soft and feminine. Thank you for going all around the Philippines. I do love the Bisaya girls. Have you done a Samar trip? I hear they are beautiful too.

  • “No es más rico quien más tiene sino el que menos necesita” no puedo decir nada me he quedado sin palabras.

  • Sterek I think it just shows that people are always rich and family more than money I don’t care how much money you have if you don’t have a family that loves you brought up right or good mother and father it is hard to be happy a lot of poor people especially in a lot of communities are rich in many ways if they have good family it doesn’t matter where you’re from I think in general all people are good people and whether or not you live in United States or the Philippines or wherever you are from happiness in your life begins with how you are raised within your family no matter what you have great town trade show thank you my man Dennis

  • You are finding your niche. Exploring where no one else goes and finding beauty in family and relationships.
I’m both envious and proud of you my friend. Keep going. Keep finding. Keep learning. Love you man!

    • Love you back, John!!! Your selfless act of leaving your bike opens up a world you will probably never know existed. You are a beautiful human being and I am so inspired

  • Lj is very pretty, if she come to California USA I can teach her how to juggle, she can be a juggling pro with me😁😁😁

  • Can’t wait to see you catching clams and going on the boat for a fishing trip! 🥳🥳🥳awesome show as always

  • Derek as I watched you walking the plank😂 I was reminded of a similar video by vlogger Harald Baldr in Siargao that had over 2M views.I actually think that yours was as good if not better. These people are so resilient. We could learn a lot from how they live together as a community. It was nice of them to show their living quarters and tell you about how they make a living. The young ladies are all very beautiful, wow!👍🏼🏝️

    • I am aware of Harald Baldr. I appreciate the compliment and only wish I can reach that many views. Once I reach even half that, I will elevate my philanthropy 100 fold and create more heart felt content. I am now limited by what youtube pays me from adsense

  • I learned clam harvesting and freediving in Mactan and Pardo, Cebu. Mactan used to be the Boracay of Visayas. White sand beaches. The only buildings in Mactan were Timex Watch factory and the tiny Cebu Airport that was in 1980.

    • Yeah… since then, foreign money has bought up and developed on most of the land. I am surprised that this community still exists and belong to the locals

  • Hi Derek, if it’s ok with you, I’d like to tag along with you on one of your walks through the neighborhood.
The Philippines has many reasons to visit, but it’s the wonderful people that bring us back and make us feel at home.

    • Sure!!! I have an open door policy. If you are in town Sunday, I have a commitment to do shellfish collection with LJ’S cousin on Sunday

    • @Q Adventures I’m grateful for your time my friend. I didn’t mean to mislead you, but I’m still in LA. I’ll be in Cebu for 3 weeks in November.

    • @Q Adventures All it takes is one bad visit from someone that comes with you, to hurt your relationship with the community. I’d be careful with that. They may have evil intentions. Maybe, you should visit this person (and others) for a few days, just to get to know them, before taking them with you. The porn industry and child trafficking are very real. I’m sure, you’d hate to see something bad happen to those girls, and other children that live there.

  • Your best video yet, Q. This video should be shown in every school across America. Spoiled bratty American kids! 🙂

    • I blame the degradation of discipline and education in the U.S. public schools on the teachers’ unions. They’re a greedy bunch, and the children’s education takes a backseat. There’s a teachers’ union talking about going from a 5-day school week to a 4-day school week. It’s all about what they can take for themselves.

    • I initially did not as I work on a bigger picture if you have seen my other videos. I met with LJ and Jericho today and made a descent contribution to their college funds and this is only the beginning. Again, the bigger picture

  • People that live in real poverty (something few Americans have ever experienced) are humble, happy and incredibly friendly. This should give us a wake up call to the things that are truly important and what we take for granted. Love this video!

  • Hi Derek, This video was very interesting. It shows how they live and work. They are very humble and content in what they have. Never complaining, always with a smile on their faces and happy. Looking forward to the next video.

  • I always been a fascinated with the idea that people live that close to each other and don’t fight. It’s mush like the American Indian. One tent and all the families sleeping and eating under one roof.

  • I really enjoyed watching this video. Everyone is so friendly. Got to love the people. I could see the expansion of new homes being built. When I say homes, shacks. We have seen this type of housing in the depression of the US . Using what ever to build a home. The poor housing. But they survive and thrive as well.

  • The young man seemed very nice and respectful.
The girls were very pretty . LJ made me wish I was 20 years younger 😅🤣

  • Absolutely beautiful people. The West has mostly forgotten just how important community is. That all for 1 and 1 for all helps the whole culture through any hardship. God bless. 🙏

  • I love this type of content and I thank you for sharing these incredible people and putting things in perspective. You have a new subscriber!🙏

  • Just been watching a few of your videos. Congrats for giving the Philippines a great name!
All your province videos show the real life of these so warm and welcoming people,
so genuine, friendly and positive. Big up Dereck! Merci bien.

    • Thank you very much. I am real new at this, nit even a yr in, and I am just asking questions to satisfy the curiosity I have and share with those who choose to tune in. Thank you for your support and a big welcome to my channel

  • In the Filipino culture, family is important and in the navy they stick together like family no matter if they are related or not…. I interrupted some of their karaoke food parties! One food that’s very underrated is their homemade beef stew which looks similar to Pho soups, but taste equally good.

    • @Q Adventurescorrection on the actual name of their beef stew… it’s actually called beef Lauya, but this particular Filipino navy chief that made it for himself and because I was there, he offered some to me, and again when he made it again I was more than ready for more than one bowl, he made a bit extra. He said, it was beef stew, but when you look for phillipino beef stew, it looks more like American beef stew. Looking at Beef Lauya looks like what I had. Here is a typical recipe from a YouTube channel. https://youtu.be/ljaEM9DmzE0?si=UtU3M4hMDSK0Umlt

  • What a nice touring of this neighborhood with such wonderful people really. And notice despite the minimalistic way of living how fashionable they present themselves. If you see them walking in the mall like that you wouldn’t really imagine they go back home to such minimalistic homes sleeping with 6 up to 11 people in such small place. I really love communities like that and imagine I would love to spend an evening on that “balcony” playing checkers and chicka-chicka, how peaceful 😊

I also loved the way how you interact with the people here. Very relaxed and respectful which shows in there hospitable and relaxing way of responding. They surely did not felt ashamed or embarrassed towards you as a westerner which they should not obvious. Mission success, everyone was and still is very happy ❤ What a great people 👍🏼 I just returned back home from Cebu and I really miss it already.

  • Hey my brother, probably one of the best videos you have ever done. It actually brought a tear to my eye also. All those people in that little village are very humbling and makes me appreciate life a little bit more. Hopefully you get to do more videos with those people there. I don’t know why but I felt a connection and it touch my heart. Take care my brother

  • How do these people react when a foreigner just walk into their village just like that? Say, if i go to the Philippines and want to explore. Is it normal?
    Looks so peaceful and friendly.

    • @RagnarHoff you just watched how they react lol. I’m sure they will all let you in. I think your intentions, attitude and general character as a human being, will determine if getting back out is easy. They seem like a very humble friendly quite community but with that usually comes strong community bonds, so it’s my guess if you offend or do one of them wrong you probably have a problem with all of them.

    • @𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 This was Derek’s second visit like he said in the video so this is not their first meeting with him. Plus he’s recording and some of them probably knew his youtube channel so it’s different that say if we walk by. That’s why i asked.

    • @RagnarHoff oh I see, yes I think most content creators do their own due diligence off camera ahead of time rather than just rolling in with the cam rolling. If nothing more than to just get an overall feel if they think it would be good content for their channel.

  • Thank you for sharing .We westeners take things fo granted . You showed us even though they don’t have much they are still happy. What a beautiful community and beautiful people. I’m guilty of being a westernized person and this brings me back to earth. I do appreciate what I have but also envy the simple and happy life the filipinos have. Happiness and family.

    • Only way to truly help those in poverty is to teach them how to earn money. Don’t give a fish but teach them how to fish instead. That will improve society and the economy of the PH.

    • @Christine Mae not everyone can just start a YouTube channel and make money. LJ is a first year college student studying for a degree which I am sure is very time consuming for her.

  • I didn’t see a CR in any of those homes. Where do they go to use the bathroom? Is there a community toilet, or something?

    • Mr Simon Santiago… you realize she’s a minor as she stated her age correct? You realize my channel is about culture, philanthropy and adventures and NOT dating nor “hook ups” yeah?

  • Gericho is such a great guy, so polite helpful and kind. I love visiting philippines 🇵🇭 the people really are amazing. This neighbourhood is so sweet 🙂

    • My observation and opinion (not matter of fact)… despite finances, pride and carrying oneself respectfully is practiced without prejudice

    • @Q AdventuresI lived like that with my grandparents sleeping on the floor. I’d go fishing with them in the morning, life was simple and carefree for me. I’d like to go to that village one day and take a look. I want to see the people who called the “Squatters”.

  • im almost visit around the wold but im very proud my country and my country men even we dont have a good job or good salary but we can eat 3 or 4 times a day but for the other coutry that we can say a middle class or 1st class coutry if ever they cant work 1week or above oh man their lives or deily foods are very difficult to buy so we are blessed people in the Philippines …..By the way im SEAMAN so people in the Philippines we are so proud beingba filipino

    • @leonaldoruiz9763 I am a middle aged man from the USA and just last night a car hit an electric pole and power went out for less than an hour but you would not believe the crisis it caused in the neighborhood. People even hollering at the man on the pole asking how long until it was going to be back on. So your statements are very accurate I assure you.

  • Man, I could have sworn this girl was 14 years old, but she says she’s in college, but it’s only a matter of time before these girls look like the ladies who live in the area, but as they get older, their hearts tend to get better

    • @steve fellers I think the dumb down their real names for American’s the first name is always very simple one or two syllables, the middle and last names are real tongue twisters haha.

  • I hope you gave them some money at each house that you went into. Americans sometimes don’t give back and only take for their utube channel. These are people that don’t have much and as a utuber be mindful of how you take . Bless them for they have little. These are people that are poor.

    • Hi Gilbert. I encourage you to watch my other videos. I always give give. Some in a more grand scale than others based on their motivation. Especially the Gel series. I am also having a livestream tomorrow around this time. Please join us so you have a better understanding of my purpose. Thank you

    • @qadventures  I have seen you help a lady and family on finances of completion of there 2nd story home . You have bought for them siding material that is fine and dandy. But asking these people to go inside and look and criticque there living areas and asking them how many people are sleeping in that small room. To me that’s very rude and put this on utube for the whole world can see how Philippine people live is absurd. Would you ask someone in America to go into there home and see and critique there home? What kind of response would you get from someone in America. If these people ask you to come and look then that’s fine and dandy but to ask them is very rude . Don’t you think that’s rude? You are making Americans look bad and rude. I have grown-up around Philippine people all my life in Hawaii and have ate dog with them and some are poor and I have given them money just because the love for them. Be respectful to the poor people of Philippines

    • @Gilbert Ah Sam If he doesn’t ask questions and know what is going on how can he help? Of his 12K+ subscribers most of us are American and don’t feel he makes us look bad or we wouldn’t support him. You said you watched the videos about Marylyn’s family, did you watch the updates? How the upstairs was fixed up and the proper stairs were built for their safety. Now they found out that the government is relocating them at the end of the year so he is trying to help the family with that as well. I can understand your frustration with American vloggers exploiting Filipino’s for clicks and views and not giving back but trust me that is not what this community is about. Look at the comments in this video from this community wanting to help people not hurt them or ridicule them but offer a hand up because they seem like good people who deserve it.

You said you have grown up “around” Philippine people in Hawaii and then offer your opinion yet I just watched a fine Filipino gentleman Gericho, in this very video, who from all aspects seems to be raised right with a very good education THANK HIM for what he is doing in sharing the culture and putting it on YouTube for everyone to see. I’m not trying to bash you or your opinions but do you understand what I’m saying? How you think they feel at least in this case is exactly opposite to how they feel, so in the end who is harming or misrepresenting them? If you watch the next two videos you will see one is LJ and one is Gericho discussing their education and finances and ways this community can possibly help.

  • Wat beutifull young girls ,no wonder western men are grabbing them in droves, they still have family values and knowing a life with little installs a humilty entitled western women will never have😂

  • I grew up like that. Less than that even . They are very sweet people there. How does someone help them if they want to ?

    • I have a PayPal donation link in the video description. If you want to contribute to LJ or Jericho specifically, I am working on a website with specific campaigns to help me get organized and help participants stay informed

  • your perfect for these videos bro , so friendly and respectful people open up to you and trust you so we get a good insight of their lives

    • Thank you for the compliment. Everything I ask are my genuine personal curiosity. Am just glad I am able to find you guys to appreciate it as much as I do

    • @Q Adventures
Being a little older and wiser that the material things in America don’t make my eyes sparkle but people like these do.
My fiancé is Vietnamese and I love traveling in that part of the world. 🌏

    • @altonwilliams7117 well said. Younger generations are jaded with making their millions. After the 1st million, then the desire for the 2nd spark and it never ends. Being older and wiser, our perspectives are more clear

  • Filipino people are simple, humble, respectful, we are trained to call Sir or Ma’am in School since from Kindergarten to College, English is taught in School we are happy of what God provided us. Most foreign Western people look at us Filipino are below poverty level like our house, employment and our way of living. In the West people are spoiled and they want convenience, they want everything nearby like Grocery Stores, Banks, Hospitals, Entertainment Centers Markets and more, but they don’t realize they also have poverty in the West or U.S. homelessness like in the U.S. high crimes, violence, racism, Ghetto neighborhoods, I miss the Philippines my native Land the Philippines Bisaya people are proud people!…🇵🇭 ☀

    • Amen!!! I live in Los Angeles. Just 40 minutes east is san Bernardino and I refer to it as 3rd world America. Most Filipinos live better than them

  • This is the kind of video that I have been searching for a long time.
I love seeing how the people live in these types of houses.
I live in Texas and I have to admit, it made me cry for these sweet friendly people. They have very little but are still very happy.
Now I understand why many Americans want to live there.

I hope you will continue showing more videos like this one.
    Thank you again.

  • Exceptional video Derek.
Those people in that community are so friendly, My thoughts are with them.
Lj is quite good with her english, im sure she is very good @ college.
Thanks again for bringing us superb content.
May yourself and those closest to you have a great day, cheers 🍻 bro.

  • What’s interesting is they all look happy despite not having much. You visit western countries like Australia and the US and there a lot of unhappy people that are caught up with the rat race.

  • a little overly invasive……..you’ll know if you’ve lived there for any length of time they are very candid and open and eager to help/please. Just cause they say it’s okay doesn’t mean it actually is – yes?

    • @mlh4711 why do people always feel the need to speak on others behalf without even being asked to. Gericho spent several minutes thanking him for visiting the community and showing their culture on his channel. Other adults were clearly making themselves available to talk to him on camera and the community invited him back to do more content. None of which appears to be in line with your comment but the exact opposite of it. To think that those grown men sitting on that dock, one of which was one of the girls father I believe, would not have spoke up if they felt someone was intruding or imposing on their family or neighbors is the true insult of your comment. Just because they don’t come from alot of money doesn’t mean they don’t have a voice to stand for what they believe in or protect their loved ones.

  • I live in the Philippines a longtime now.
This a general comment about these girls.
    It was a setup!
Makeup on young girls in the islands is not normal and certainly looked down on in most communities here.
Second, hair all recently “chopped “ shorter.
This is a sign of intervention by people directly or indirectly involved in human trafficking pushing foreign workers.
    I’m truly surprised.
These are definitely poorer people and being influenced by others with an agenda.
    Truly lovely girls.

    • @jimmykisser5811 I don’t understand your comment, except the makeup part which I’m on the fence about. I think many province girls may not were makeup at home or hanging around the neighborhood, I think makeup on Filipina students and workers especially in more populated areas is pretty common. As far as the trafficked part he is in their community and talks with their families, with the living conditions being as cramped as they seem to be there I think the last thing anyone of them would want is an extra mouth to feed or to find space for someone to sleep if they weren’t family. Maybe I misunderstood your comment.

    • @𝐁𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝑺𝒐𝒍𝒖𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔 you may have misunderstood!
I’m saying that after many years of experience fighting abuse you see things others overlook.
      It’s not one thing.
      Everything is done in steps.
      Example:
One day you look at where you are in life.
Ask yourself; How did I get to this point? Did I imagine this when I was 14, 18, 21?
You realize the steps and missteps along the journey.
When you reach and age of 69, after many years of being in the direct path of foreign worker abuses, human trafficking, it isn’t just prostitution!
It’s servants who have no way out!
Marriages of convenience in servitude to family you feel obligated to provide for.
However, step by step you learn the combination of appearance changes directly connected to these.
      Not one individually by itself.
      Like gang tattoos.
It’s not the tattoo. It’s the type.
Styled hair verses square cuts, specific lipstick on all the girls, face made up because they were prepared for the video.
Plus the looks in background by older women.
These are very pretty and young girls.
Set up to advertise their best assets.
I hope the viewers are all honorable and no one uses this as a reason to exploit.

    • Your statement is too generalized, Jimmy. You understand how it might be misinterpreted by many. Like I said in the video, I was there the previous day to almost an empty neighborhood. Tita Sheila suggested I came back. These girls were most likely informed by Tita that a vlogger is coming through so they put on makeup. I observed a close nitch community full of friends and family living of the sea. Not what you suggested

  • That was a great video , we as Americans sure take what we have for granted , and even here we’re not like them with our families . There wonderful people that live there lives and away from busy cities .. we have running water, electricity , and anything we need but fir them they don’t and they make due on what they have and there humble .. there very compassionate people .. luv the Philippinos there so different than Americans .. beautiful people ..

    • @kevinthomas1513 from my point of view us Americans have every convenience anyone could ever ask for but no time to relax and enjoy many of them. Sometimes it seems like a race to the finish for no prize. Along the way we as a society lose alot of morals and values, especially when it comes to family which is commonly scattered across the country at the very least. My grandmother was the only person I ever met that could “Command” a family gathering that everyone attended, and I mean everyone in the family from all over the country, but those days seem to be long gone for many. They may be economically disadvantaged but definitely not “poor” like many think.

    • I’m a American and this video sure brings light on how greatful we have it here would luv to visit mactian island and see there culture and probably sleep there few nights and experience how they live . And help them what I can . The 4 gurls in ur video they are humble and they are injoying there lives .. we can’t understand there lives until we live there lives.. but as a American I feel they deserve better .. we give other countries so much money but dint even consider helping the philoppines .. but if I ever meet a woman like urself she would be my everything aswell. Luv ur videos

  • @qadventures I am qurious how it works… how often hurricane come? Must they rebuilt their houses like every 10 years? Is there any way to protect such house – use some anchor with ropes? Do they own the land, or renting it? I mean if they built twice big house will they pay more? Or is there some limitation for house size?

    • Good question. They don’t own the land. The government just allows them to utilize the land until the government has purpose then they will be evicted. Very common in the Philippines as poverty is rampant.

As for building, construction costs is extremely limited. Most building materials are scrap as you see from the stilts. They are a mixture of wood and bamboo, whatever they can scrap. Cutting costs and building with the cheapest material is a common practice for these neighborhoods. You can spend more, but the typhoon can destroy it just as easily or take the neighbor’s house down and drag yours with ith as most house are attached structurally.

There are solutions like building floating houses. I have intention to lead some projects but finances are always an issue. I am hoping to reach a big enough following where I can average 35k views on each of my videos and I will invest some resources to start these projects. Donations are great contributions but not reliable. Someone can promise something and never materialize. I also had a few monthly contributions that got canceled after 2 months. I just hate to let people down so I wait until my channel is self sufficient

  • First time to see one of your vlogs! I loved it and you showed wonderful people being happy with little! Here in America we should learn from them! God bless

    • I am from Los Angeles, Gary. What you speak of is precisely the reason why I wanted to move here. Please share my channel with your loved ones. They might also appreciate it

  • Beautiful inside and out. We spent 3 months in the Philippines a few years ago and they are some of the nicest people on the planet.

  • LJ and her crew are some of the coolest people i have seen on any You Tube Video, a simple but happy life with plenty of Natural smiles, Greetings from UK

  • Thank you for this! And thank you for sharing the beautiful people. That young man is a role model for us westerners that have forgotten what is important in life 👏🏻👏🏻🥰

And so nice that all the young ladies dressed up and was so supportive, all are future superstars 🙂

  • Little known fact : You’re more likely to get tetonus from a new nail than a rusty one. The bacteria that causes it can be found anywhere, like soil, dust, and manure. Rust isn’t the best environment for it due to oxidization, but can be on the dust that settles on it.

  • I would love to make contact with a good middle aged Filipina. Don’t cry for me Filipina. The world connects there man.

  • LJ is super cute and so friendly shows you how humble they are. You dont need money to be kind, friendly and caring. No wonder some men go there looking for a wife.

    • I would be the first to agree with you, but I saw nothing disrespectful or nefariously done by this foreigner that would warrant any suspicion. And he did talk with others in the girls’ families when he was able to. I believe, the bigger problem might be with the ideas and thoughts that enter the minds of some of the video’s viewers, which some of the comments are proving to be true.

  • Filipinos always very welcoming and smiling I love this country and it is inhabitant and it is simple place and tipik of their simple life god protect the Philippines 🙏🇵🇭😍🇨🇵💕

  • What fantastic young adults and teenagers showing you all around their homes and taking time to talk with you. We can take a leaf out of their books.

  • I wonder if the humble ladies actually know how beautiful they are,,we will never know. That’s exactly why I’m so lucky enough to be engaged to one of these beautiful ladies.

    • @Q Adventures The tide is high when the moon is directly above or directly below. So it’s about every 12 hours. The time depends on the phase of the moon. Any weather website will tell you the times of the tides.

  • Honestly, I do want to get married with a filipino woman and nowadays it will be a difficult time to find a the love one who willing to spend the rest of their lives time with.

  • I MISS THE LIFE LIKE THAT …have very little but at the same time have everything in life and appreciate the little things you got, its my motivation to come from nothing to something

  • You should be a shame of your self making these poor people a content of your vedio and making a joke of them. These people are honest and hard working. You should go back to your country and film the crime and drug pusher and homless people in there. Leave these people alone.

    • Are you saying, these people wouldn’t accept any charity because they’re too proud to take it? If done right, everyone would love any acknowledgement of their struggles to live and accept charity if offered. I think this vlogger gave good questions without being insulting or degrading, and that helped people like me to understand them better. There is a definite danger of abusing and taking advantage of the situation, which could hurt the innocence and goodness of these people.

  • Very educational. You gave very good questions. I would help these people if I was there, but my wife would never allow me to go, and I don’t blame her 😉 With all the thieves/scammers in the world today, there’s no way I’d give to someone to give for me. The Filipinos may never get my gifts. I do feel for them. I think those parents would still enjoy a mattress on the floor. Rats/mice might try to live in the mattress… I don’t know.

    • I understand and appreciate you watching my channel.

The mattress will be extra weight on top of those plywood that is already barely holding my weight

  • Now that you have your foot in the door, make sure you don’t become a conduit for the vultures who would want to take advantage of those girls, and others there. Please.

    • Loud and clear. I spotted a few who made donation offers as a disguise to be in contact with LJ. I have declined them all

  • You will never meet a warmer, kinder ppl on earth, than the ppl of the Philippines.
Combine that with the beauty of those tropical islands and you are living in paradise

  • Thank you for the awesome video. It’s very disappointing here in America when it comes to young ladies. They’re unpreciated and lazy. They don’t realize how good they have it here America compared to the Philippines
Thank you again for the great video.

  • you do a great job or puttting them at ease,
happy homes. yeap. better than money.
goood happy family life with cousins.

  • Are there houses for rent or hotels near this place? Because in reality, I would like to get to know these friendly, kind people who always carry optimism in their faces, despite these living conditions.

  • I ask YouTubers if making money by intruding into the privacy of poor people in the Philippines or other countries is ethically or morally correct. That people in the Philippines (and other poor countries) are kind, and sometimes as a result of that reverential view that they have of us (foreigners) they allow us to enter the privacy of their homes, is sufficient justification to expose their intimacies, when as youtubers we are not going to solve the shortcomings in their living conditions. Isn’t it enough to show your streets and neighborhoods? Isn’t it a bit of an attack on people’s dignity with these types of videos?
Do you ask these people for permission to upload their private lives to YouTube?
If that were the case for you, would you like people to go around showing their private selves?
How far do our freedoms go and how far does our consideration for human dignity go?
I don’t want this to be taken the wrong way, nor do I claim that the social conditions of many people in the world should be hidden for the sake of it, but I don’t see Europeans and North Americans letting strange people invade their privacy.
But I would like to leave this reflection for this channel and hundreds of others that do the same around the world.

    • I love feedback like yours. Your criticism is detailed and has context.

I understand your concern. My take is, privacy and living standard is man-made and differs from culture to culture. Without digging to deep into a topic I have no background on, this community invited me back after I inquired on a day where it was empty and everyone was at work and school. Thereafter, I was invited back multiple times. From that gesture, I obviously did not sense the feel of intrusion.

After posting the videos, multiple members of the community had become subscribers and regular viewers of my content. They have read comments, and I am sure that includes yours. Not only do they not mind, they also feel a sense of pride for someone like myself who took the time to turn on the camera so they can say their peace on their topics that have been far overlooked.

I cannot speak on behalf of other tubers as I am guilty of not being a consumer on this platform, I walk with with utmost respect and edit out whatever negative feedbacks I have from my subjects. Although I have not earned the title of Philanthropist, I am working hard to pursue philanthropy work and the kids of every community I have entered stand to benefit (educationally) from external help.

I hope you give my channel a chance. Watch more of my content, the results it produce and the follow-ups and revisit with your criticism which I appreciate

  • I dont understand how any body can not help build that community into a better living with work and resources to keep it a float…why… uu humans are at a advance era in time.. why…

  • Great video showing us the wonderful people from Philippines; their friendship, kindness and happiness they all showed to you and to us through the camera. When I see the Philippines I see real human, living a simple but significant live. I love them and thanks a lot for share it. Greetings from Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 🇵🇭🇻🇳

    • Thank you Bonnie. It means a lot that you enjoyed my content. Please share my channel with your friends and family. My channel is not about me, it’s about the filipino people, culture and livelihood

  • Good on ya fella for showing this side, when ya live in the phil’s. Your around it all the time and aware of the living standards, testament to the fortitude to the Filipino peoples.

  • I would not even stop these filipinas in getting theser foreign partners, love or not, why? because it is good for the economy. No sense in preaching about family because fililipinas are too westernized. So, Filipinas keep doing it to get you out of poverty and keep spending.

  • Every American who bitter & complaining about what they don’t have, should watch this video! Perhaps some humility would be learned

    • I used to watch a lot while still in Los Angeles to keep myself grounded. Once I arrive her, wow… what a difference living the experience

  • LG is young, but seems very focused on education, which is opposite from what American women believe about the culture there. This is great to see.

  • I think we Americans should let our children spend a summer break living there? Goes to show you money doesn’t equal happiness

    • I brought my 10 yr old on for his entire summer vacation 7 yrs ago. After observing what kids his age has access to or lack thereof, he went home a humbled 10 yr old. From asking to go to toys r us every Saturday to asking for his birthday expenditures be donated in lieu of buying him gifts
