You are doing a great job helping Ian out. I feel for Ian, but wonder if he had saved any money when he was a highly paid engineer in the middle-east? Many of my Filipino friends here worked 2 jobs, 7 days a week many years when they were younger. They have been able to send their children to college and have saved enough to retire, through frugal lifestyle. I really hope there are generous and well-to-do people who can contribute to Ian for his surgery.
I do not understand why these cats that go to PH do not prepare for these eventualities. They will not be able to get on a plane when something bad happens. A bicycle accident a few years back in the US involved 4 surgeries, including major knee work, 3 hip surgeries ending with total joint replacement over 5 years. This can happen to anyone (a motorcycle accident could be a lot worse than my bicycle accident!). PHP500k for a joint replacement there is nothing compared to the $200k mine cost (before insurance adjustments) not including the other surgeries. Ian and the others there should be prepared and have $20k USD or more in reserves.
Ian had an highly paid job in the Middle East , surely he saved money from that job or did he just live the high life and spend it all? Plus he has a good sized pension, so I don’t understand why he is asking for money from other people. Half a million more how cheeky is he, has he got no pride and why isn’t he using his own money, why should strangers be supporting him???
Derek, there are so many helpless people out there that have fallen on hard times despite them following the right path in life. Ian isnt one of them. Stop asking us to donate money to these type of people. He made his bed.
I dont believe this is a valid charity case and im questioning your judgement and respect for your followers.
I’m not asking, Steve. Even in the beginning, I nearly make a mention that “if anyone feels compelled”.
But I agree with you. Hence I have asked him to set up his own account and direct commenters to communicate with Ian directly if they still feel compelled
Q,
Ian was trying to get you to explain to him the process the transfer from PayPal to his bank account. He wanted to know his bank account balance so he could make sure that the donations are reaching his account.
Someone could need a leg as their leg was not good, you give them money to have amputation. Then 10 years later they need a new heart. 10 years later something else. Its endless.
Derek-May God give you patience-INSTANTLYYYYY!!! Your doing a frustrating project there but Kudos to you – Ian is not tech savvy at all-I know exactly the frustrations you must feel-You are doing a mighty job!
Derek, you are a nice guy and very genuine when it comes to helping people. I think this case is all over the place and I think he adds things which he can do without as you’ve discussed in your last video with him. I have a funny feeling he will keep pushing for more and more every time you speak with him. He would be entitled to free medical treatment if he returned back to the UK. It could have been a good idea to help him get on a plane to the UK and let him organise all medical stuff needed from there. For me, it is not something I would commit to getting involved with by covering all his medical expenses as I don’t believe he will use the whole amount for it all.
Derek this is your 3rd video of Ian, and.โthis also is the first time,he actually said thank you.reluctantly, but I need more, the comments above, ๐ are completely correct ๐. And.โ why is there nobody there to help him set up PayPal, and now youโre giving him another 5000. I am sure all the viewers are thinking ๐ค the same,
I completely agree, Gerald. The 5,000 was from donations collected on the 1st video and so he can continue his treatment. And yes, his “thank you” was only said after my cameraman asked him to say it. And, yes, his wife and 2 daughters are able but doesn’t seem willing so I think this will be my last video of Ian. I really don’t want a dependent the more I learn of his dynamics
Thereโs probably hundreds if not thousands of guys like this, who have physical problems in foreign countries. And have no savings to get the help they need. Getting back to there home countries to get medical help. They left their countries broke and unable to live there. They do need help, just like anyone one else. Guys, have an exit plan. You had the money to get there, have the money to leave. To get help.
Well, if I were you Ian go back to England if you need a free hip operation but you have to join the list as a lot of patients are on waiting list. Good luck
@q, you should have put the new x ray, for ppl to see. I’m not medical but maybe some viewers are or they know some1.
To get a clear explanation.
Also, he coulda saved…1k or 2k pesos a month, and it seems that a lot of ppl around him don’t work, even if they take care of kids, and let’s say hourse shores…clean cook and care, even low wages like 2k pesos a week is 8k a month for the household
Derek, it is pronounced cell-u-litis just as spelled. Ian seems to have an idea that you have an endless money pit in your backyard.
Thank you, Jan. I got the last 2 syllables reversed. And yes, I thought he was joking, but he was serious
Does he get a 1099 on PayPal donations. Look into the tax situation. Make sure he files
Is this a joke? This man has not followed up with immigration much less filing taxes.
I’m sure he will, in the form of whatever it is in the UK
All these people who seemed to live the ” pleasure ” life then end up begging for money.
Ian needs to just go with hiis decision to live in PI. Do what can be done in PI..
You made the decision.
Livecwith that

Well said. Empathic but candid. Derekโs doing a fabulous job for sure!
I don’t think his mental capacity is perfect
Derek. You’re a good man.
Be sure to manage for your own future.
A local hospital will operate for free, no. Isnt he a long term /permanent resident….
Derek, Ian seems dazed and confused. Im suspicious of why his family isnt beside him answering your questions better, even if translation is required.
You see suffering but im not convinced he sees it that way. I dont understand where P12,000 was spent . It doesn’t add up
It never does
They have to learn how to fend for themselves.he got into this situation and wants others to fund for his mistakes. He has a pension correct
Hahaha Ian still needs alot of funds Derek๐ ๐
His leg is do much thinner than the last time.
Definitely needs PayPal,coz it’s the safest.
Gratitude goes a long way. For all you do, thank you!

Iโm learning for my own channel from u. Great job
I take that as a compliment
One step at a time – thanks for being you Derek!

If the hip needs to be replaced, that is probably more money than he was quoted. He should start his own gofundme.
Remity is good very easy better than PayPal
Some people have to sleep in the bed that they make. You cannot help them. To help them is not fair.
What you do for the least of my brethren you do for Me
You got it, man. I feel all that stuff creeping up on me as I slowly rot away over here in the United States. ๐ซฃ
Someone could need a leg as their leg was not good, you give them money to have amputation. Then 10 years later they need a new heart. 10 years later something else. Its endless.
Loud and clear. No dependents

On the contrary, I am not normally a patient person

You are 100% correct. He had decided to to go back to the UK for treatment, which is free
