  • Not offended here. The truth is sometimes hard to take. I may be wrong but I donโ€™t think heโ€™s shy ๐Ÿ™ˆ. Good luck Ian.

  • Unfortunate for ian situation. The premise that alot of expats are missing with YouTube, is that young old in btwn bring $$$$$$. However most importantly bring the business mindset and have multiple avenues to generate income ๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰๐ŸŽ‰

  • Nice family ๐Ÿ™‚ He need to talk more ๐Ÿ˜‰ No worries about what ppl think or say ! Its always someone that will write something…less nice ! Always a ” Karen” some where… ๐Ÿ˜ Take care you all ๐Ÿฅฐ๐Ÿฅฐ

  • Those people in the comments complaining are projecting their own feelings about how they would feel, but I don’t think Iam minded at all how he looked on the video. When you get old your modesty goes out the window.

  • Derek, youre a good guy but can only do so much. Im not a medical doctor but i think this guy is in the process of doing himself in. In the USA this is a dial 911 situation

  • If i had a camera pointed at me i would probably freeze up too, but I fear there may be another cognitive issue at hand.

    • Yes he did,why move to a country that has no social safety net,and u dont have an emergency fund,My Lord people are stupid.

    • It’s good that there are people like you helping this poor guy but if I was him once his condition stabilize I would go back to England to have a proper free treatment. In the Philippines if you are an expat without savings set aside for your medical, then you are in trouble. Always think about your future you’ll never know what comes around the corner. My late loving husband said to me save some money for rainy day you’ll never know when you need it. I wish Ian for a fast recovery God bless ๐Ÿ™

    • โ€‹@user-rd2em4zw1s — some people are more curious and want to experience life other than the ones they currently live. We can’t all be boring.

    • Save money for a rainy day , the worst that can happen when you do that is ! You donโ€™t need to use it and pass it on to your kids when you pass on ๐Ÿ˜Ž winning

  • Ian’s plight brings to mind the proverb, “there but for the grace of God go I”. A recognition that others’ misfortune could be one’s own, if it weren’t for the blessing of the Divine, or for fortune or fate. ๐Ÿ™

  • Many Philippino people are in the same situation as he is. Itโ€™s great what youโ€™re trying to do. So many people are in need of medical care. When someone leaves the US or another country near money broke. Hospital care is not on their mind. Living a better lifestyle is. If I was leaving the US with a thousand a month income. The long term expectations is not great. But, what do they have here. Nothing.

  • People complain about everything and anything particularly those that don’t understand life here. You don’t need to apologize and be happy you rid your channel of a few idiots. Great video with purpose

  • Well done Derek! You won’t lose me as a subby mate. Humanitarian support is your ‘Forte”, Derek. Regards You and Ai, and to Ian and his dear lady. Bob and Lina. New Zealand.

  • Your plan Derek sounds good…to check the status and all the options which are possible.
Ian sounds a bit confused this time. Maybe the meds are causing this.

So let’s look what the checkup will bring up.

  • Thanks for the update. I wasn’t offended by the previous video, understand Ian’s position. Good job Derek. Keep us updated please.

  • Derek, perhaps he would do well not to read the comments and just concentrate on his health. Also, make sure he takes ALL his medications with him to the Doctors.

    • Yes Jan. He called me over just to discuss his worries. I advised him the same. I understand that he is bedridden and has nothing but time to be curious on the comments of HIS video. But I told warned him most those comments will just cause stress from strangers that don’t even know him. His mental state is frail due to potential operation

    • Derek, ur a good man. Sad that xPats put themselves in that position,
Live in California 87 still walk 2 flights stair. Drive an do Gardening.
Nice there are people like u who care.

    • He is not fit to fly, also going back UK he wont immediately be eligible to free healthcare, will take up to 6 months to qualify. NHS is also residence based. He does also have an Irish passport, maybe explore that route…… But he needs a caregiver in country or yo go with him. Seems staying put is best option

  • If I understand Ian’s medical condition correctly, he has an untreated broken femur, after which he has had cellulitis on his lower leg several times which is treated with antibiotics. Cellulitis is a serious condition, because this suggests that bone fragments from the untreated fracture might be causing ongoing tissue damage, leading to repeated infections. He needs life-saving surgery to correct the fractured femur, or amputation or death from sepsis might soon be his next options. I think Ian’s sad situation is a case study in why it is vital for expats to always have a large amount available in a savings account (minimum 30,000 USD), so that in an emergency you can get home as soon as possible or get an immediate treatment at a high-quality local hospital.

    • For US Veterans who are eligible, there is a VA hospital in Manila. Every situation is different. People need to be realistic about their resources and when to go back.

  • Poor Ian, and his family – this is such a hard way to live. Thank you so much Derek and Ai, for helping them. God bless you all! I hope Ian can get the treatment he needs, and can walk normally again. โ™ฅ

  • Cellulitis can quickly turn deadly..its very serious….i had it a few years back and was in hospital 5 days and was close to death a couple times at 40+ years old…this guy has a short expected life span if he doesn’t get to a hospital and get proper treatment.

  • The Philippines is country lacking in resources for its own citizens. I can understand expats stretching their meager retirement income. But don’t expect to be taken care of when the country is finding it difficult to take care of its own.

    • @AG-so4glย  What permanent resident? There’s no such thing in the Philippines. You have to petition in court to be a citizen. He can have prolong stay but that does give him any benefits. There’s no right because he has not paid anything into the country’s health system or any system for its citizen. Just like in the US, you can’t avail of the Medicare unless you paid into it.

  • There was a situation some five years ago that a Seychellois married to a Philipina was stuck in the Philippines due to his medical situation. The government of Seychelles flew him out of Philippines with her wife and brought him to Seychelles. This was with the help of many people from Seychelles that donated money to take them out. Arriving in Seychelles the medical treatment was undertaken free as he is a citizen of our country. He is a talented musician and he is now back on his feet again playing his songs singing in hotels like he used to do. I hope that Ian get the help he need by the grace of good he can do what he loves to do like before.

    • I have been to Victoria.

Beautiful country. Itโ€™s unfortunate that it took close to 4 hours to have lunch. I would have loved to see more of the city. Time was limited. I likely wouldnโ€™t return. A few things stuck in my mindโ€ฆBeing ignored multiple times by the waitress at what was supposed to be a very nice hotelโ€ฆalso the two different menus (they charge more for Westerners ) for whites verse Africans.

    • @@aboveitall9600 yes Seychelles have this bad reputation for charging all foreigners more be what ever you from or colour. Your experience with one hotel might differ if you could have tried others. Another thing most probably a foreigner that was the waitress in that hotel, Seychellois do not like to do waitress jobs, few Seychellois waitress around these days. .

    • Yes… unfortunately, Ian’s circumstances are very different. I hope I was able to generate more views to create more awareness with Ian

  • per +*if you were to pass out…that old bastard would fuk you up the ass i. …thats what people are like
    …..

  • Please let Ian know that Cellulitis is very serious, I had it and was in the hospital for a while and then I had to have therapy and rehabilitation to get to walking again. Ian please get this treated right away as this could turn into something really bad, they will treat it with IV antibiotics, it takes about a week with the antibiotics, it just depends on how bad it is, but please go with Derek to the Doctor and let him know about that leg, I want to see you get betterr. My Mother was from the UK and I Ilived there for 8 years, I miss a lot of things about the UK, except the weather! Hope you feel better, so you can get back to your pool game๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Here we go again, another broke expat, with no plan.If u dont have an emergency fund,do not leave your home country, why is this so hard to comprehend

  • Ian was shown it the light of reality. It is what it is. Westerners have always put lipstick on a pig. The fact that a white westener would be shown in his unfiltered living condition. These people have no problem with the way the Filipinos are displayed in their natural living environments. The emperor has never had any clothes.

  • Be careful

I think that a foreigner can not ask for funds to help others with in the philippines. The money needs to be donated direct from the sender to the final receiver.

    Please check this out.

This man needs help and helping is honorable.

    • It’s not a big deal as it is a one time thing. Another thing, you are confused. As long as the funds come from overseas, there is nothing illegal about it. What he can not do is going around the Philippines trying to get donations. Yet another thing, he should deny any payments that come from anybody in the Philippines. But again, no big deal. There is a Filipino lawyer who demonstrated what’s legal or not by making a case study of Marknowhereman. It was in Tagalog. He went ahead and submitted $5 to Makrnowhereman’s Gofundme but Mark denied it BECAUSE he knew that lawyer was after him.

    • Understood. If you pay attention to my wording, it’ a merely comment and not asking. I’ve checked with local law enforcement and government on my previous projects

  • Feel so bad for Ian’s outlook to recover completely while in the Philippines and the extra stress on his wife and family caring for him and seeing him incapacitated just being bedridden. He is just surviving and not able to enjoy and thrive as All of us expats over here fear this kind of situation as it could happen to Any of us at Any time. May all of us reach into our pockets and pull out what we can to assist a fellow expat; at least getting an updated diagnosis and asking the Barangay and local government may be of some help. Thanks Derek for your Super Kind Heart and wanting and offering to Help Ian taking the limited time you have to assist them just shows us what a Caring person you are.

    • @EamonnHogan-eu3qcย  UK is a total shiite hole wanna be america everyone knows this. UK is a place everyone tries to escape to amerixa to. I know so many losers in my city who escaped from the UK.

    • โ€‹โ€‹@@EamonnHogan-eu3qclol our country is full of guys who escaped the UK to get a real job in america. How much do you make at your job $4 an hour?

    • @ziggarilloย  not at all. People love to talk bad about america but given a chance 100 percent of them will cling to the boat entering America. Its so dishonest to hear people claim otherwise.

  • Most expats are one medical emergency away from bankruptcy. Philippines should require expats to
Deposit $20,000 for medical issues or deport immediately

  • No need to apologize, Derek. Sometimes life is what it is. Illness has a way of humbling us all. Some people have to find faults despite the deep human experience staring right at them. You are to be commended for your kindness and for your willingness to help people in need. Wishing you much success in getting Ian the help he needs.

Speaking of Ian. I wonder if Ian is tired? I hope he was evaluated by an MD before he was prescribed those antibiotics. If he were a family member, i would take him to the ER to be evaluated for sepsis. I’m an RN in the US. Sepsis can go surprisingly fast without IV antibiotics. Even with antibiotics, sometimes the body still get overwhelmed. Be well.

    • He was just shied away from the comments generated on his video as well as family. But I told him he shouldn’t take those comments too seriously. He was also overwhelmed by the kindness of the viewers.

He has seen a MD and on antibiotics as we speak

  • You donโ€™t need to apologize i think it was very normal and not in any way disrespectful. Go one and donโ€™t let you influence by side some sick minds. ๐Ÿ‘

  • This guy is not worth helping. It’s self inflicted. The English NHS will charge this guy for any treatment. He is now not a resident. Ken was worth helping. But this guy had a job and seems like he’s sponging from everyone
