  • I have done a back surgery.. I would suggest that he try to talk to a physiotherapist that work with ppl post.op and show the x-ray. They can most of the time give advice and talk about rehab.

  • Listening to you talking him into a medical consult is like trying to talk someone straight in a dystopian insane asylum. You’re a good guy Derek but his daughters need to resolve this nonsense.

By the condition of his teeth I suspect his neglect of his health started a long time ago.

  • Its been a long time since Ian has spoken to anyone with a logical flow in the conversation thats why he seems so blown out.

  • Very well done to help that guy to get him to a specialist…and 12k should be more than enough for that purpose…however I didn’t hear him thank you for your efforts…if he thanked you off camera then ok but great job ๐Ÿ‘ ๐Ÿ˜Š

  • Hi Derek (Q) Whatever your religion…your life has a life span. Your born and die and hopefully get to do some interesting bits in the middle. My life in the Philippines didn’t work out as expected…
Steady Eddy Tours (YT) took early retirement age 62. He vowed never to return to England, UK after selling up. Three months into his retirement in Thailand he had a suspected “stroke” then the doctors thought it was a brain abscess… After further tests it was discovered he had stage 4 glioblastoma (aggressive brain tumour) Luckily he had taken out travel insurance to be repatriated to UK for free NHS medical treatment.

  • What you are doing for Ian is absolutely brilliant! You are so thorough with small details that are often important but also get lost in confusion here in the Philippines because of communication issues.. You are a Godsend for him. Wonderful!

  • If Ian gets the surgery will he be able to walk without his walker. If the doctors agree he can take the surgery okay, then I would do it if I were him. I feel so bad for him – he’s having such a hard time. His wife and daughters are going through a very hard time as well – it’s not easy to be caretakers for an ill family member.

  • Ian gives too much personal information regarding his family. Some things are private and not to be shared with anyone else.

  • Ian is in a hard place now. With his age and leg issues. It will be hard and time to heal after operation. I hope he gets the help he needs to make his life and family a little easier.

  • @QAdventures Always the hero Derek and kind and understanding hehe..
Your not ignorant Derek your just trying to help him and communicate with him,so that he understands why he needs to see the doctor.
We will see Ian on his feet soon thanks to you and the generous subscribers bro ๐Ÿคž๐Ÿ™

  • Ian does not talk to people well. Im sure his wife takes care of him really well and he needs to wake up and talk and treat her better. He has so many excuses. He has to remember this is the Philippines and if you want help you jave to be patient. I dont understand how this was good news. Your help was good news and the viewers donating is great news but he has to show some love. The word you are trying to is pronounce like sellyou lightus At the end he thanks Melonie and shows some kindness. Teach Ian to pray. This is exactly like the Ken sutuation. Ken had a great woman to help him also

    • I totally get you. But Melanie and I were also compassionate on his situation being “imprisoned” in that bed for so long. Putting myself in that situation, my mind wouldn’t be right neither

    • @@qadventures Derek remember I live in the Philippines throughout the year also. I see people foreigners treat their wives in a not so appreciated way. All I am saying is the tone and how he speaks should not be accepted. I understand his frustration with his situation however he still needs to show a little love. I’m sure his wife misses some things in life that they can’t do together. She is imprisoned also

    • โ€‹@andyh5822 I agree with you, but there are a lot of old boys here that firstly came from a broken relationship from their countries and are also losing patience, compassion and are more irritable due to their aging. That’s what you will have to put up with if your a Filipina woman especially one that is a lot younger than her man. On top of that, his a Brit, we can be miserable as he’ll lol

    • @@jonrend Im glad that me and my Filipina wife are the same age. We are 47 and 46. We should be able to live and grow together

  • Hi Derek (Q)…I have seen on youtube, many people using sad stories to get views and income. I can see your heart is in the right place with your vids.
Ian’s family is relying on him for the source of their income. If anything happens to Ian…then no income. At Ian’s age, he has many co-morbid diseases such as high blood pressure. Derek (Q)…you would have to ask the doctors what is the percentage survival rate after the operation to see the risk. It is Ian’s decision to have the operation or not. My filipino father in law had a stoke and was on maintenance medicine for many years. He also had an ulcer on his foot because of poor circulation and it was hard to promote healing. After the maintenance medicine failed …I rushed him to a private hospital for a week. He was transfered to a public hospital in Davao City and after another week died of kidney failure. I can assume you have not seen a public hospital yet.
    Goodluck.

    • Henry Cy (RIP) of Shoe Mart (SM malls) was half Chinese – half Filipino..
Uyangorin (China Town) of Davao City.
Philippines is a great adventure but not for the sick and very old.
      Philippine Village people (YT)
      Komander Daot (YT)
Goodluck with your adventures Derek (Q)

  • If a consultant thinks you won’t benefit from the procedure, or survive an operation he wouldn’t do it. You have to have a consultation to see where you stand, and go from there, nobody can advise without a medical assessment and consultation.

  • Derek, you can get a lot of information from ChatGPT it may not be 100% but its accurate. I put in Ians condition and there was several recommendations.

  • Just learned from Derek that he has ADHD ?!? ( when replying how he would feel when locked up at home because of sickness ) Well Derek, or you were joking. Or you reflect a bit on your own situation. Hope you were just a bit cynical
You do not seem to suffer from ADHD .

  • Can we donate for a larger bird cage? The cage is too small for one bird, let alone 2. I was watching them and they seem stressed, trying to stretch their winds and fly. Sad.

  • Jesus, my patience would have long ran out by now if i was Derek unfortunately, Derek you’re a much more patient person than me!

  • Itโ€™s good to see Ianโ€™s doing somewhat better and (cell u li tis)๐Ÿ‘ appears to be clearing up a little compared to before. Those type of tablets cost approx 20 to 50 php per tablet, depending what is prescribed (I looked online๐Ÿ‘)

Hopefully the price of a driver taking him there and back and waiting was possibly heard wrong๐Ÿ˜ฎ, 100 or 10?php per hour maybe, NOT 1000 php per hour to wait. Someone must be pulling his leg at that priceโ€ฆpardon the pun๐Ÿคญ๐Ÿ˜…

Yeah I want to be paid a job at that price too๐Ÿ˜‚
There are people a lot older than Ian had re-set bone operations are walking again, though, with extra care.
Could any other expats in the area or surrounds willing to lend a helping hand occasionally if that happensโ€ฆwho knows? Or a visit to have a chat?
Also maybe information from the doctors can be written down for Ian to understand and possibly translated too.

  • I you like working with younger folk but these type of videos are exceptionally wonderful- they will go viral

    • @@qadventures Im still grounded here til my son gets home from Nevada he holds the keys to my $$ – hes a full time poker player- a good boy not the best communicator tho-I swear ill be there ASAP and i still remember that Steak i promised you and Ai- —patience is a virtue

  • Sad to say i think the some locals can help but only for a HIGH price- ive been visiting Cebu since 1983 and its not only in Cebu its a mentality that many have there- if your a foreigner your rich-(My family is also filipino) so im not racist.

  • Hi Derek,

Thank you for helping Ian, you’re such a kind and caring person! I was on IV Antibiotics for 2 weeks, when I had Cellulitis in my leg and it was swollen and very red. The IV Antibiotics are much more effective, I am sure the Doctor will know what the best course of treatment would be!
Hang in there Ian, you will get there!๐Ÿ˜Š

I think the medication should be much cheaper over there! The swelling of his foot will go down too, as mine did too;! Hang in there Ian, you will get there!๐Ÿ˜Š

  • What a slob. He’s a complete idiot. Not the most intelligent either. Reminds me of Jim in The Royle Family. Doesn’t deserve any help.

  • Another Western dude who is worried about a few thousand pesos. That money and the cultural and bureaucratic issues make for challenges. People need to prepare for these issues long before something bad happens….and it will. Derek, you are a good man….

  • I like your channel and catch videos here and there. The bottom line is many old foreigner are going to PHL and are borderline disabled or already going to PHL with multiple chronic illnesses.
As an RN my entire career and now working administration for health plans and hospitals. These types of issues are going to only continue to increase.
Unfortunately itโ€™s going to end up being the unassuming poor Filipinos that get stuck being caregivers to disabled patients.
