  • 6k damn that’s like 100 usd I make that each months on my small channel with way way way less views ( not this channel)

  • Derek, doing Your own research, what do You think about Elon Musk’s investing in the Philippines?

If You understand what the U.S. did with Hawai’i, You will understand why the Hawai’ians have so much resentment towards the Haoles.

I’d like to share a video with You to Your Messenger. There is one problem, I AM restricted to message You.

Because it was taken down from YouTube, I recorded it the old fashioned way. Before it was taken down. I used a secondary device to record it.

If You allow me to share without posting it, please unrestrict Your messenger for me. Then I will be able to share it with You privately.

It is very intriguing to hear the perspective of the good and bad and how it will displace a lot of Filipinos. All because of Elon Musk wanting to invest in the Philippines.

  • It’s very interesting to see your point of view.

Don’t forget…you are still working for a boss. YouTube is your boss. Youtube decides how your channel will perform. You never know how much money you will make. It’s cool if you create videos but you have to think ahead. What if you are getting ill and can’t upload videos? You will not get money, your channel will ranked down and you have to start again.
In the end you have a lot of free space but you still are employed.

My advice is…have fun and don’t look on numbers too much.

Take care and see you in the next one 🙂

    • @@qadventures You have to put it in the right perspective…

Look at your channel like your rental business. There are so many people who wants to rent a bike. So your business have to gain millions of dollars, right? No…your company is focused on the local customers and tourists. There are people on the island next to lapu lapu who dont even know that you are existing. Same for your channel. Your viewers have to be interested in the country, want to help the country or simply want to see some beautiful places and women. See how specific your viewers has to be so your channel can grow? The cherry on the top…the viewers has to like you and your style of making videos. Making 1k USD a month is amazing. Look at the positive things 🙂

Be different and real compared to other creators is key. Discipline is always key. So keep focused and make this world a bit better every day.

  • Derek, I am a subscriber to your channel. Retired and look forward to your video daily. I just subscribed to the Filipino City Girl channel and find her a pleasant and intelligent person and willing to help others. God bless you guys.

  • Oh I already forgot about her, unsubscribed her channel about 10 months ago already. Giving advise or share some good intentional knowledge with her can backfire …. I simply signed off.

  • I let your playlist play overnight on the computer. Played 40 whole videos last night. Think it’s still running. Should play all 60+ videos by tomorrow. Rinse and repeat. 👍🏻🤘🏻✌🏻🫵🏻 da man D ! I I pay for YouTube premium family plan so I don’t know how that works for the no adds?? You???

    • Oh wow!!! You are hardcore. Helps for sure. I still don’t studying how paid members contribute to the monetization. Thank you Saul!!!

    • I consider it a success. He had terminal undiagnosed terminal ailments. He, at least, passed peacefully on a hospital bed and not in the heat of the Philippines

  • She monetizes her channel in a different way than you do. You should have asked her about that. Would have made for a more interesting video 👍

  • @qadventures Better yet, I can send to Your email. That will make it more secure. I just have to figure Your emai. I’ve seen it before, I just didn’t take note of it. Ay~Yooo…..

  • I always try and comment, even if it’s a boring comment about commenting 😁 I also watch your videos cast to the tv which means that I can’t skip the ads.

  • You are the Philippines 🇵🇭 Buddha. LOL. Great video, brother, always giving a hand up, not a hand out. ❤

  • HI. I AM FRENCH FROM CANADA. You earn 1000$ US per month? It s a lot for a chanel like you. i now a guy ( Mark Wiens) , i think he as 11 millions suscribers , he is American et travel all around the wold, i can imagine he must be millionnaire $$$ . He got 1 millions views or more each vidéo somethime . He try restaurants around the world

    • Yes. I am familiar with Mark Wein’s channel. If I have his type of viewership, I would be able to build communities here and fund so many college students

  • husband speaking – Doing Vlogs is harder then someone might think. If you are going to make it a business you need you put out at least one video or more
a week.. You also need content that someone in the U.S. or other developed countries will be interested in watching.

  • Derek! Very informative video for everyone who watches YouTube. Be it your channel or any other. You folks put in a lot of hard work to produce this content and share it with the world. Great Job!! Keep up the good work. I will also be subscribing to Filipina City Girl from now on.

  • Great interview Derek😊 and yes, allowing the ads to run and clicking on them too, also liking the video certainly helps.

A lovely educated young lady, trying to rise above the low wage system there and sometimes effectively doing her best to help others with food if she can afford to after paying her own rent bills etc and family.

Wouldn’t having Tagalog and English subtitles help channels more and keep more people interested/watching.
    Anyways that’s just my thought.😊

    • It does in a practical sense. But for my limited knowledge thus far, I still feel the work involved vs the payout is not worth it yet. But I am sure I will cross that bridge

  • I never watched a video that I don’t click the thumbs up button! If I take the time to watch it’s worth the time to hit the button!😅

  • Derek, the monetization for YouTube sounds complicated. I have to watch a lot of videos for school, so I upgraded to get out of having to watch all of the campaign ads. My understanding is that when I watch videos a “portion” of my membership is divided up somehow. Good luck with your adventures!

    • It is complex, for sure. And yes… say your premium membership $20 and you watch 100 videos that month. That $20 is divided amongst all 100 videos and yt based on an extremely complicated formula

  • @2 I think the vloger need to put out your stories at set times or days. If folks want to follow you you need to keep their interest and to look forward to
your next video on set days. Some channels I follow put out 2x a week, others put out a story every day. That really requires a dedication to doing that
many. Your life is tied to your channel then.

  • #3 good advice, my wife will not let a relative borrow money or anyone else. If she can or feels it is a good reason she will Give the money and not
expect them to pay the amount back. Getting money out of a borrower is like a root canal.

  • #4 At 33 minutes is a long story, 20 minutes is about the length of most folks attention span or the time they can spare to watch. Some times I will come
back and finish the story. I am retired so I have lots of time, but if I was 40 years younger and still working, I may not have the time to spend more then 15 or
    20 minutes.

  • LOL.. i have 8 subsribers! That’s ok, got the channel to document our travels, etc for family and friends. Will be moving there in January

  • OK Derrick, I watched this video all the way to the end (plus a few commercials to the end). I still don’t know what “going viral” means in terms of earned money. What constitutes “going viral”. What does it mean in terms of viewer count? Does it mean 5000 views, 25,000 views 50,000 views? What does it mean in terms of earned money from YouTube? Does it mean $5000 PHP, or $25,00 PHP, or $100,000 PHP…JUST CUROUS. I think you might have earned $25 PHP by me watching ,today…don’t know.

    • The word “viral” is subjective. Some people defining as 100k views or above, some 1mil views, etc. Me, personally, 200k+ views. Basically a popular video. Compensation still depends on where the viewers are viewing it from, which you have ZERO control over so you can’t calculate the $. Impossible

    • It’s all good. We simply put things in perspective, not having any expectations. Thank you for your support

  • Thank you so much, Q Adventures for the opportunity. And to your supporters out here, you guys are supporting the right channel. He’s making a difference in everyone’s life in the Philippines 100%.

  • Derek, I have told Claire a few years ago when she left Filipina Lipstick to do her own You Tube channel. But, it finally took her a couple of years or several months to delve into it and now her Channel is growing.

    • Yes. I wasn’t aware of Claire until she reached out so I didn’t have context. The next video will be about us talking about this issue. She had to work up her courage and she had to deal with some illness as I understood it

  • You should have done some research before putting this scammer on your video. Claire is a scammer. She scammed a lot of men when she was on Filipina lipstick channel. And when someone calls her out on it she always says she was forced by the old man who runs the channel. Ask Claire how many YouTube channels she been apart of? This girl will ruin your brand.

    • Yes. I should have done my research. I was a little dumbfounded when we spoke of exactly that on the next video

    • Claire is not a scammer. She was in a difficult financial situation when she was offered the Filipina Lipstick job. She wasn’t forced to take the job, she absolutely needed an opportunity. The guy who owned the channel was the actual scammer who then forced her and her sidekick to do more than what they were comfortable with if they wanted to keep their job. They then quit the channel because they weren’t comfortable with the situation. She even messaged a lot of her subscribers to tell them personally why they were leaving the channel and apologized for having to go along with what their boss wanted.
This Jtpett guy doesn’t know the real story and doesn’t have any empathy when someone young makes a mistake.
He’s been trolling them ever since.

    • @ You’re a simp! You believe those lies? You’re the one who’s clueless. And they did a lot more than you know. So get out of your mom’s basement and stop trying to be some savior. You have no clue what you’re talking about.

  • I just got done watching your video with filipinacitygirll and there were a couple of thoughts that came up that I figured you might be interested in. The first has to do with when you speak a foreign language and it cuts you out of western markets. There is a way around that problem that you didn’t mention and since I don’t know if you’re aware of it or not I thought it would be good for me to point it out. I used to watch a couple of Vietnamese channels of young women building homes and farms from scratch using just materials they would find in the jungle. They didn’t speak english but to open themselves to other markets they would put translations in the captions option under each video so that people who didn’t understand Vietnamese could click that option and get a translation of what they were saying on screen that they could read. The only catch is you have to be able to load the translations yourself and there are quite a few language options. If you can do it though or have a resource that can do it for you, there is a way to make so virtually anyone can follow along if they like your content. So Filipinacitygirll might want to look into that to be able to tap into that western market and make more money. The other thought has to do with another Filipina YouTuber you probably know of called Filipina Pea. She did a pair of videos about a month ago that you might want to check out. The first one is called “Putting Filipinos Back To Work – Fighting Poverty In The Philippines” https://youtu.be/ApKL2Pu5sGg The second part is called “Surviving The Philippines – When You Can’t Find A Job, Make Your Own” https://youtu.be/jxYIUGkTtWQ In the first video she came up with a DIY idea for a cart type business selling beverages, she shows the plans she got, shows her building them, decorating them and then finally finding Filipinos to run them. The second video just show the people she picked actually operating their cart business as proof of concept. I know you talked about doing something like that with a BBQ stand that I think maybe never materialized but that’s a more difficult and expensive business to give to someone. These drink business that Pea came up with were all pretty cheap to build and stock with starting supplies and I thought you might be interested in checking it out as an idea you could try to duplicate? If interested she gives a full break down of what it took to create and how much it all cost. Anyway that’s all for now, as usual keep up the great work you and your team are doing.

  • Good informative video, but this shall soon be a dilemma Derek, promoting YouTube for newcomers to start will be also detrimental to the amount of views each will obtain, thus less monetary values. It wont effect yours right away, but over the years who knows..

  • Derek, I am curious about call centres as many in other countries have been exposed for illegal practices. Are the ones in the Philippines the same or on the up and up? Are you able to film in one? Thanks!
