  • Helping people and charities all basicly do the same thing….get used to money coming in and then expect it. Red Cross takes a huge amount for admin fees…when admin costs are like 2% but they take like 15% cause if donations are lower for a few years they can pay the workers of the charity to do nothing. I dont give money to anyone or anything anymore tired of throwing money away.

    • You are not wrong. I understand where you are coming from as I have figured out your point when I was 20. So I decided to do things directly so progress can be measured from my end

  • What a lovely brother Ai has! For sure he will making something of his life with your help. 👍🏼♥️🇨🇦

    • No. He’s not her brother, Jan. A nephew to the whatever degree.

Side note… EdMarie had been busy. We made appointments for her on 2 occasions and both occasions her boss rescinded her day off request. Without influence nor input from us, she conveyed that she will resign from that job so we will visit the dentist then

    • @janonthelam3418 bosses like that is all too common here, Jan. I haven’t inform EdMarie yet, but after the dental work is done, we will offer to put her in the food service business that we will put in Bernadetta’s home. It’ll be a profit sharing endeavor and not a minimum salary. At the same time, I don’t want to mention it to her and indirectly influencing her decisions

  • Derek and Ai, what you do for these young people is really awesome! And I have seen so many amazing young people by following you and watching your content. I can’t wait to be in the Philippines. I’m excited to see Southern Leyte soon. Thanks Derek and Ai for the good you do there and the amazing content! Excellent work you do! ❤❤

  • Hey Derek, shout out from New Hampshire, U.S. ✌. Always looking for your vids. You are a blessing to all people in your life.

  • I am glad you are enjoying life in the Philippines and your helping people. I feel that when it comes to the family or your family that it’s not giving donations it’s supporting family. I support my family including nieces and nephews and grandparents etc and I do it because it is my family. My wife is Filipina we have a place in the Philippines but live in the states. You said many times in the video you donate to Kamayan and his sisters and I believe the wording is off. They are not charity they are family. This was not material for a video in my eyes this was a conversation between family.

    • You are not wrong. But my decision to help this kid is beyond how we define “family”. Ai has 9 immediate blood siblings and my decision was to not be involved. Although Kim Ian is her cousin’s son, Kim Ian is exceptionally humble and motivated

    • @@qadventures thanks for the reply. I understand about not being involved and your explanation is valid. Thanks again.

  • Yes, the best thing that you can do is keep mentoring him and make it possible for him to finish his studies. One day he will be paying it forward by helping someone else finish theirs. This is how you develop momentum to keep this little snowball rolling downhill and growing and growing. Success comes a little at a time.

I love what you are doing brother! 👍🙏❤️

  • It may sound quite paternalistic. But those who watched previous vlogs and have met this couple know that they are genuine.

  • Well done Derek and Ai. You all are the kind of people that make the world a better place for so many!!!

  • He seems like a smart good kid it would be great if you and him could open a farm organic I heard it’s really hard to get real good produce over there so it could be a game-changer to get somebody with that good of knowledge of farming. To grow some incredible vegetables like we have here in the states could be a gold mine good for all😊😊😊

  • That’s nice Ai grew up next to a river – must be why she loves the water so much. Kim Ian is such a good looking guy! It’s wonderful you and Ai are helping him so much! Wonder what Kim Ian’s going to end up doing when he’s done with his studies.

  • As a side note to this young man, if he has access to computer perhaps he is willing to look at site called “korean Natural Farming”. Something from an Asian nation that is being used in many, many countries around the world…..

  • love what you do derek but hes to shy to accept the 155 derek just take the keys to the 125 and give the 155 keys 😉

  • Kim Ian and his sister’s are a great advert for the Philippines 🇵🇭 👍oh and not forgetting Ai too 😉😇

  • You know, Derek, I gotta tell you something. I can forgive you for being from LA. And your mom raised you right. How can those two things can both happen?
Just glad they do. The Philippines is very lucky to have you there. Helping kids whether you know them or not. You will leave a legacy of greatness there.🍻

  • Kim Ian seem to understand economics and money management better than most. Just don’t get the wrong girlfriend, that only takes, takes, take without replacing the savings and contingency.

There is a rule that I learned, but most will never follow. Because they deplete all or most, without thinking about future emergencies. And when they don’t have, they will never have.

Teach independents to never depend on others.

If You cannot help Yourself first, You cannot help others second.

  • we live for 2 things:
the persuit of pleasure and the avoiding of pain.

the 2 most important days in your life is
    1. the day you were born.
    2. and the day you find out why, and who you are.
i truly believe phillipinos understand this better than most of us and they aim and strive to answer this question.
always loves your videos and Ai truly is an amazing women I feel when shes with you and smiling it adds a ray of sunshine to a darkness that may have followed you around I can feel it

    • You are, absolutely, correct. While in USA, I had the pleasure of enjoying a successful Sales career. However, I feel most fulfilled after moving to the Philippines at the age of 44 to start my different endeavors. And Ai is a huge part of it
