I am an American. I have lived on and off in the Philippines for 10 years. I have lived like that. I don’t want to ever again. Why would I want that? I can live a super good life in the provinces and not live in such a fashion. Most Filipinos live in poverty out of ignorance. I don’t mind simple and basic but running water and electricity are super easy for a foreigner to have. Absolutely no reason to live that way except out of ignorance and drive.
