    • All too real. Manila is a prime example. There aren’t jobs in the province. Most people just leave behind their family to blindly go to Manila or cebu only with their fingers crossed that they land a job. Most don’t

    • @coyote_0056 no. That’s not true. But it does put you in front of the line amongst applicants. However, it is common to see signage that reads… “Hiring.. between 18 and 22 yrs old, 5’2″ to 5’4″.. others need not apply”

      Kinda messed up

  • Great story Derek, that young man is the perfect example of hard working people of the Philippines 🇵🇭
The sacrifice that these people do is quite astonishing compared to the west.
I wish him well, hopefully soon he may get a job back home.
Cheers Derek, take care, stay safe, shout to all your loved one.😉

  • Very interesting interview. I am learning so much about other cultures while you are helping others and documenting your adventures!

  • There’s many good worker there, but the pay is so low. Keeping the good ones, might be based on pay. Every company owner wants to make more money. That’s where the people decide to work slower or less. Why work hard for less. The idea of working and being payed more, must not exist there. That need to change. As well as here. I’ve seen it here as well. For people like that, pay them and you get great workers. It might cost more, it makes a company better and one you will go to all the time. Even if it cost more.

  • Hi BUDHA D👋. Nice to see June has his head, heart ❤️, and responsibility’s in order👍. As a man it’s our duty to support our family. Sending prayers & positive vibes to his family & newly born baby daughter 🧒👍🙏. Great job 👏 my brother 🙏. Blessings 🙏🌺🌼🌸

  • He might only “work” the day of the event, but I’d bet he puts in many hours getting the whole thing set to happen. Getting the cake designed and delivered, getting all the (tuxedos) to size and delivered, etc. I had a girlfriend who did event planning and the number of 12 hour days that didn’t count as “work” for each event, plus being on call for any change or crisis made any free time minimal.

  • Derrek, any chance he could team up with you and start a bike rental in Bohol? Could be a great opportunity for both of you…

    • The demand in Bohol is not great. I told him if there is ever a need, I will create a job for him or his wife so they can be together as a family.

  • Do you know if his wife prefers to live in Bohol or is it because he only shares the small room that is provided by his employer and getting an apartment for the family where he’s at is not financially available for him?

    • They prefer to be together in their hometown in Bohol. But no jobs there, like most province. I have made mention to him I would create a job for him or his gf so they can be together. The logistics is up to him

    • @Q Adventures it’s hard to be separated especially when your young but he is another example of doing what he has to in order to provide for his family.
