The trash!!! Even a poor man can pick up his trash. Why would they CHOOSE to live in all that filth? If they don’t have a job then they have plenty of free time to clean the place up. I’ve seen many videos where they recycle all the plastics for money. I’m not picking on the people for being poor. Often they are born into poverty. And there are few ways out. But why the filth? Would love an answer to that. It looks like almost everywhere I’ve seen in the Philippines has a layer of trash on the ground.
Derek has his lady with him, its humbling to see how people live without the comforts that we take for granted, his questions are more directed at how they live, for myself can only imagine the everyday hardships and still they smile.

People wonder why slums exists around high end developments in the Philippines….Where do you think the workers live? Construction? Security? Maids / Housing Keeping? Gardeners? It’s the not pretty side to coming to the Philippines with money. These are the people working for you.
I’ve never understood how American Military bases are in the Philippines and this isn’t getting any better.The Government lives rich and the people make huts out of scraps😢makes no sense with all the world’s technology and people still live less than midevil times
Actually, Subic Bay (where the American bases were) the town is very “american”, well infrastructured, traffic lights work, restaurants that caters to Americans. Other than that, most towns I go through are similar to what you see on this video
