I remember watching that fire last year..
My initial thought was deliberate to reclaim the land for a site to build a few condos..
I guess the bulk of the residents have moved to other areas..
Sometimes the governments offer other space for them to build again..
Good luck to those that have returned to try again..
WOW All them post sticking up out of the water was where people had homes built on them up over the water. Looks like many hundreds of houses gone. Street kids are so happy. In Dumaguete they will ask me, Sir we will guard your scoter for 5 peso while your in the restaurant. And they did.

I really think the Philippines government aren’t doing enough to help these poorer areas and the lovely people that actually live here.😢
I don’t think people are legally allowed to live in this area. It looks like a damn dump site. These people are long term squatters on government land. Correct me if I am wrong

Sadly this is a very common way to remove people although fires are also common due to the electric and gas cookers and lights. So who knows.
