Many names for her channel comes to mind such has her name and life or Mountain Life . Life in the Mountains. How ever because of her age she will have to leave the comments off. Let’s be honest a lot of nut jobs out there. I have seen some comments on other channels that I could not believe people would say even knowing the person on the channel is of age. But with all honest many guys will even say things they shouldn’t to the guys as well about the girls they see in the video.

When my child is old enough to use internet i will put restrictions on how much time he stares at his phone and what he looks at to make sure he does not neglect outdoor and physical actvities along with studies and learning not watching tik tok facebook ig and other nonsense all day. I realize internet is now new to this family and they want to enjoy it but hopefully they will all not be glued to their phone as i see in this video all the time like so many western and richer kids. Also hope they not give out the wifi password to every kid in the baranguy and have them hanging around gels house all the time wasting every ones time and bandwidth better to open internet shop pisonets there and charge nieghbors for the use of their wifi use.

A star is born, or a little monster? As we know attention for girls/women could be like a drug. I hope she doesn’t change her disposition a few years down the road. She has a lot of learning, it’s good to have a mentor.
She’s 12. Kids are cruel. Need to watch any social media she has to make sure her “friends” aren’t making negative comments she may see. It’s tough for adults. I personally wouldn’t designate anyone to get a “cut” of her earnings. Kids there are pretty good about turning over money to their parents. Don’t want her treated like a cash cow if the channel gets bigger. She should have an account that puts money for her future. It needs to be fun for her. I hope for the best but seen a number of kids not handle the attention well. Be careful. I’m not sure that excluding her from your channel is a great idea either. She’ll get exposure on your channel. She could potentially get backlash locally or at school. That kind of gradual exposure is good because she’d get prepped for what it will be like when she has a channel. Once she has a channel that makes money the family is likely not going to want her to stop. Just my opinion. My first trip to the RP was in 1985 and I’ve got lots of family over there. I just don’t want her to get quiet and introverted like some other kids I’ve seen on YouTube.

@Q Adventures Companies I’ve worked for have done lots with influencers and ad revenue. Doing it right is important. An ability to receive direct donations and packages is a good thing. She brings people into her family life to show day to day activities and people will help. Watchers feel like a member of the family. They will definitely send money for home improvements and things to make life easier. Heck I’ve sent multiple packages, money, etc. I’ve seen guys buy land and build people houses because they saw them on a Youtube channel. I’ve seen inappropriate things sent in packages but opening packages on camera is important. Just need an adult there at all times. Eventually the family is going to have some type of emergency. Having the ability for direct help will be critically important since families over there have to pay medical costs before services are provided.

I am impressed with your judgement in stepping away from continuing to have her on your channel…good decision. Once she starts her channel she will do her own thing but two channels that I might suggest that she could look at for some inspiration are “beautiful life with joan and aimee” and “peter white”. Many/most of their videos just show daily life without much commentary…if she does some in this style it might provide her some relief from the pressure to have clever commentary in every video.

@Q Adventures Something I realised many years ago is philanthropy doesn’t have to be done with money (sure it’s easier with money), giving your time to help or teach is a form of philanthropy, I give my time to mentor young it professionals and create open source software that many people benefit from, but if everyone used one of their skills or abilities (just like you are) to help others the world would be a better place without needing a lot of money to get there 👍

Derek, first of all, thank you for introducing Gel and her family. You two do some amazing work. Some thoughts. The amazing Gel got the way she is without any real outside help or influence. Never is this more illustrated than in the way she was communicating (in her own special way) to you and trying so hard to get everything right and for your approval. Example: she would say something like, ” I can share you here. I can share you the place.” Or: ” It is a little bit of far. Do you want to go there?”
It is these little miscues that make her appear vulnerable and that are so endearing to her viewers. She doesn’t have to be perfect. She needs to be allowed to make these little ‘mistakes’. On this concern, you show a lot of foresight by deciding to step back and letting her progress and grow at her own pace.
When you two start to build the intro to her channel, please take some clips from your first video encounter with Gel. These will help tell her story in the most special way; as you first saw her. And these will be encounters that everyone can re-live each time they sign in.
For instance (and apart from the ones already mentioned), these gems: “Do you want to go to the garden? I’ll show you.”
And when you first step out of the trees–on the way to her garden–she simply says in her own understated way, “Look at the view”. Then this incredible mountain and garden scene–that you captured so well–unfolds before us.
When you ask her why she thinks people from our country go to the Philippines, she once again nails it: ” I think to enjoy and visit the beautiful view”.
These kinds of observations show that she has been insulated and shaped by her own community. Once she starts to produce her own content, I feel certain that she will prove this over and again.
This is what we all recognize has made her such a terrific find and a gift to all of us. She is not at all, worldly, and doesn’t need to trend in that direction. I think we have all seen instances of a precocious child (young entertainer, child actor) being leveraged as a ‘small adult’ . This NEVER works.
So when you start thinking about a name for her channel and the (so important) intro, it could focus on these themes:
“Danao Dreaming, one girls journey”, “Gel’s Philippine garden in the sky”, “Gel’s Mountain…I’ll show you”, These are the kinds of themes that can explain someone like her and keep her grounded.
The perfect ending to the intro could be no better than her invitation to you–you were asking about those mountains–(and to each of her viewers) to come back: “Maybe next time you can explore, there. I know that place.”
All you said is relevant and a gold mine. Where are you? If you are local, may I buy you a meal to get more insight from you? If you are afar, can you send me a message via messenger? on the subject of paying the entrance fees for the pool, look at it this way; at a minimum you helped a local operator of a swimming pool with some revenue since I didn’t see anyone there besides Gel’s party.
In this video Angel did not model the new clothes that she got but it’s okay, I’ll survive. And that brings me ideas for Gel’s channel. Have her get some new outfits from time to time and just show it off on her channel, nothing that is inappropriate but girls love to just talk about and fuss about the clothes that they get. She could have Thousands of 12 year old girl subscribers in no time. Before you know it she’ll have Asian teen age fashion companies sponsoring Gel and paying her to wear their latest lines. Derek, you know that these girls who have make-up channels (a little older than Gel, I get that) are raking in big bucks. A little low in depth to you and I but not to 12 year old girls.
This has been a stunningly great 3 part video series and it seems that you have handled helping and encouraging Gel in starting her own channel extremely well and smart. You’ve also been very generous and big hearted in out reach. I have enjoyed it immensely.

@WindmillChef that was extensive and constructive input. I really appreciate it. I am working hard to preserve her innocence and not expose her to the western culture too much. She’s only 12 so I’ve encouraged her and her parents to keep from make ups and dying her hair. My comments of her videos, I would say a good 90% of the audience fell in love with her from a sibling, parents and grandparents perspective. Her innocence and intelligence. Also her way of speech. Once we get into makeup and modeling clothes, viewers tend to sexualize the host and that’s not the path I want Gel to go down.
Mountain princess .. hahaha 😂 also I would like to suggest if you’re viewers start now you could do something special for the whole community this coming Christmas. Angel comes from a family that is living pretty good, they make money from their farms, they own cars and they have plenty of food to eat. It’s the poor people in the city who are suffering.
Although I disagree with your observation, I do agree with you that there are worst. Angel’s family does have a business that often have 1 peso margins for the banana chips, 4 pesos per kilo for bananas, etc. Despite the low margins, they create jobs for the young man with clef that you see in the video who would otherwise have no opportunities.
For me… it’s not about what someone has or lack, I stumbled across Angel by accident and learned that her potential is great. So I stop in to assist with a few necessities and mentor her to be independent so she and her family can further contribute to their community. I like to intervene when I meet people with the desire to help themselves

Hello Derek, I just discovered your channel today and by chance I was fortunate enough to catch the Gel saga at the beginning when she charmed her way into everyone’s hearts while she guided you to the family garden in the mountains. I saw eexactly what you saw and was instantly charmed as well. Gel is an amazing young girl. Of course I had to immediately bing watch the rest to see how her birthday went and was really sad to see how it all ended with you having to back away from her, although I respect why you dcided to and appreciate the explanation. At least Ai can continue to work with her a bit more and I’m sure you’ll be present in the background on that. I hope when she comes to visit Ai that you and Ai are able to make her understand how good the content can be tell her story there on the mountain. Not from the point of view of “Look how poor life is here and how hard” but rather from the perspective how good and nice the people are in spite of that and how they are able to find ways to make a decent enough life with what they have. There is loads of untapped content potential there as most of what I see on other channels about the Phillipeans is about how cheaply foreigners can live there and how male foreigners can score a young beautiful wife because so many woman there are so desperate to tap into a better life. That content has it’s place and done right isn’t too bad but there is so, so much more that I don’t see anyone really touching. I’m also reaching out to you in comments here (I hope you read your comments) because I was really bothered by the plastic friends and the bullying aspect of Gel’s storey. I would like someone to point out to Gel that the bullies are really projecting their own felings onto Gel when they say those things. The look at her and her best qualities and think “what would hurt my feelings if I were her and someone said mean things to me?” So when they say she’s ugly it really means they think she’s pretty, when they say she’s fat it really means they think she’s slender, when they say she’s stupid they really think she’s smart which should be obvious to Gel because of all the people who are nice to her so they can copy of her and the fact she’s averaging around 94%, that’s a straight A student here in the US. Also when they say she’s poor, her bullies are likely just as poor as her but Gel is rich in ways they would never understand. The way Gel is rich iss in all the ways that she charmed you in that first video, with her respect, her, thoughtfulness, her kindness etc. She’s spiritually rich and that’s a richness nobody can take away from her. It would be so wonderful if you and Ai could help her become a YouTube sensation I too see the potential and imagine the wonderful transformmmation that could make in her family’s life and in her own life for knowing she was able to do that for her family. So please teach her as well as you can. Even though you have to remove yourself from her as far as your own content there will be grat blessings for you and Ai in the future if you can help Gel be what both you and I think she can be. Oh and my idea for Gel’s channel name is either Angelic Perspective or even just Angelic.
I read every word, Mark. I appreciate that you see my vision with such precision. Gel and her family cam by yesterday to make some contents with Ai and I was working effortlessly with her father to get her channel up and all the precautionary steps that I felt mandatory. We are just about 70% done but they had to leave this afternoon. I also have a subscriber who is a web developer who reached out offering to donate his expertise in his rightful field. I have a scheduled call with him in about 48 hrs to go over ideas.
In regards to Gel, I will always be in her life as a mentor. She has a heart of gold and pursue philanthropy at her young age.

@Q Adventures I’m glad to hear the things you say in your reply, Gel in my opinion is a rare treasure in this world (although I’m sure many other undiscovered similar treasures exist in this world) in that her innocense is unspoiled by the realities more worldly people like ourselves are all too aware of, unfortunately. It gives me comfort to know that you and Ai will continue to be working closely with her well into the future to help protect her and to help her family know how to protect her. After seeing how the relatively mild bullying she experiences at school effects her it sends a cold chill down my spine to think of what the types of things trolls and haters say in comments might do to her. As far as the bullies go, I do realize that being so young and innocent she will always have things to be self concious about, or at least for a long time until she becomes older. I merely try to offer up a tool that helped me when I was young and had to suffer the taunts of bullies. It always bothered me that why would these people say such mean things unless there was something to it. It’s easy to ignore when you’re real friends and family tell you nice things because you expect them to be nce to you. No parent is ever going to tell their child “sorry dear but I hate to break it to you, you are ugly.” So when they tell you you’re not it’s easy to think they’re just saying that because they love you. In my own case it helped a lot to remove the sting from the bullies words when someone explained to me that they were really just picking the words that they felt would hurt them if they were me. That’s all I’ll say on the subject though, now that I know you an Ai will be watching over her a long time to come. I’ll share one last thing with you. I’m 63 and living on disability, as such here in the US life is a struggle on the limited income I get from Social Security Disability Insurance. This led me to start looking into other places to live where my money might go farther and of course that led me to videos about the Philippines. So I’ve been seeing a lot of the typical content coming out about that part of the world and much of it is very disturbing. The poverty, the way women there basically sell themselves to try to get a better life and the foreigners and yes even YouTubers who try to capitalize on all that for either their own personal desires or to promote their channels. Yet I also see there is a lot about the Philippines that is good and beautiful and equally worthy of being brought to the world’s attention. So it is good to know that there are people like you there who see the good things too and try to promote that as well. Alas I will likely never make it to the Phillipines because while I could live more affordably there I doubt I could handle the climate and maintain my health with the health issues I have. Otherwise I might consider coming there and becoming a YouTuber myself to also promote the good things there. I don’t know what your religious beliefs are but I pray God blesses you for the good works you’re attempting to do there. Many names for her channel comes to mind such has her name and life or Mountain Life . Life in the Mountains. How ever because of her age she will have to leave the comments off. Let’s be honest a lot of nut jobs out there. I have seen some comments on other channels that I could not believe people would say even knowing the person on the channel is of age. But with all honest many guys will even say things they shouldn’t to the guys as well about the girls they see in the video.

When my child is old enough to use internet i will put restrictions on how much time he stares at his phone and what he looks at to make sure he does not neglect outdoor and physical actvities along with studies and learning not watching tik tok facebook ig and other nonsense all day. I realize internet is now new to this family and they want to enjoy it but hopefully they will all not be glued to their phone as i see in this video all the time like so many western and richer kids. Also hope they not give out the wifi password to every kid in the baranguy and have them hanging around gels house all the time wasting every ones time and bandwidth better to open internet shop pisonets there and charge nieghbors for the use of their wifi use.

She’s 12. Kids are cruel. Need to watch any social media she has to make sure her “friends” aren’t making negative comments she may see. It’s tough for adults. I personally wouldn’t designate anyone to get a “cut” of her earnings. Kids there are pretty good about turning over money to their parents. Don’t want her treated like a cash cow if the channel gets bigger. She should have an account that puts money for her future. It needs to be fun for her. I hope for the best but seen a number of kids not handle the attention well. Be careful. I’m not sure that excluding her from your channel is a great idea either. She’ll get exposure on your channel. She could potentially get backlash locally or at school. That kind of gradual exposure is good because she’d get prepped for what it will be like when she has a channel. Once she has a channel that makes money the family is likely not going to want her to stop. Just my opinion. My first trip to the RP was in 1985 and I’ve got lots of family over there. I just don’t want her to get quiet and introverted like some other kids I’ve seen on YouTube.

@Q Adventures Companies I’ve worked for have done lots with influencers and ad revenue. Doing it right is important. An ability to receive direct donations and packages is a good thing. She brings people into her family life to show day to day activities and people will help. Watchers feel like a member of the family. They will definitely send money for home improvements and things to make life easier. Heck I’ve sent multiple packages, money, etc. I’ve seen guys buy land and build people houses because they saw them on a Youtube channel. I’ve seen inappropriate things sent in packages but opening packages on camera is important. Just need an adult there at all times. Eventually the family is going to have some type of emergency. Having the ability for direct help will be critically important since families over there have to pay medical costs before services are provided.

I am impressed with your judgement in stepping away from continuing to have her on your channel…good decision. Once she starts her channel she will do her own thing but two channels that I might suggest that she could look at for some inspiration are “beautiful life with joan and aimee” and “peter white”. Many/most of their videos just show daily life without much commentary…if she does some in this style it might provide her some relief from the pressure to have clever commentary in every video.

Derek, first of all, thank you for introducing Gel and her family. You two do some amazing work. Some thoughts. The amazing Gel got the way she is without any real outside help or influence. Never is this more illustrated than in the way she was communicating (in her own special way) to you and trying so hard to get everything right and for your approval. Example: she would say something like, ” I can share you here. I can share you the place.” Or: ” It is a little bit of far. Do you want to go there?”
It is these little miscues that make her appear vulnerable and that are so endearing to her viewers. She doesn’t have to be perfect. She needs to be allowed to make these little ‘mistakes’. On this concern, you show a lot of foresight by deciding to step back and letting her progress and grow at her own pace.
When you two start to build the intro to her channel, please take some clips from your first video encounter with Gel. These will help tell her story in the most special way; as you first saw her. And these will be encounters that everyone can re-live each time they sign in.
For instance (and apart from the ones already mentioned), these gems: “Do you want to go to the garden? I’ll show you.”

“Danao Dreaming, one girls journey”, “Gel’s Philippine garden in the sky”, “Gel’s Mountain…I’ll show you”, These are the kinds of themes that can explain someone like her and keep her grounded.
The perfect ending to the intro could be no better than her invitation to you–you were asking about those mountains–(and to each of her viewers) to come back: “Maybe next time you can explore, there. I know that place.”

on the subject of paying the entrance fees for the pool, look at it this way; at a minimum you helped a local operator of a swimming pool with some revenue since I didn’t see anyone there besides Gel’s party.
In this video Angel did not model the new clothes that she got but it’s okay, I’ll survive. And that brings me ideas for Gel’s channel. Have her get some new outfits from time to time and just show it off on her channel, nothing that is inappropriate but girls love to just talk about and fuss about the clothes that they get. She could have Thousands of 12 year old girl subscribers in no time. Before you know it she’ll have Asian teen age fashion companies sponsoring Gel and paying her to wear their latest lines. Derek, you know that these girls who have make-up channels (a little older than Gel, I get that) are raking in big bucks. A little low in depth to you and I but not to 12 year old girls.
This has been a stunningly great 3 part video series and it seems that you have handled helping and encouraging Gel in starting her own channel extremely well and smart. You’ve also been very generous and big hearted in out reach. I have enjoyed it immensely.

@WindmillChef that was extensive and constructive input. I really appreciate it. I am working hard to preserve her innocence and not expose her to the western culture too much. She’s only 12 so I’ve encouraged her and her parents to keep from make ups and dying her hair. My comments of her videos, I would say a good 90% of the audience fell in love with her from a sibling, parents and grandparents perspective. Her innocence and intelligence. Also her way of speech. Once we get into makeup and modeling clothes, viewers tend to sexualize the host and that’s not the path I want Gel to go down.
Mountain princess .. hahaha 😂 also I would like to suggest if you’re viewers start now you could do something special for the whole community this coming Christmas. Angel comes from a family that is living pretty good, they make money from their farms, they own cars and they have plenty of food to eat. It’s the poor people in the city who are suffering.
Although I disagree with your observation, I do agree with you that there are worst. Angel’s family does have a business that often have 1 peso margins for the banana chips, 4 pesos per kilo for bananas, etc. Despite the low margins, they create jobs for the young man with clef that you see in the video who would otherwise have no opportunities.
For me… it’s not about what someone has or lack, I stumbled across Angel by accident and learned that her potential is great. So I stop in to assist with a few necessities and mentor her to be independent so she and her family can further contribute to their community. I like to intervene when I meet people with the desire to help themselves

Hello Derek, I just discovered your channel today and by chance I was fortunate enough to catch the Gel saga at the beginning when she charmed her way into everyone’s hearts while she guided you to the family garden in the mountains. I saw eexactly what you saw and was instantly charmed as well. Gel is an amazing young girl. Of course I had to immediately bing watch the rest to see how her birthday went and was really sad to see how it all ended with you having to back away from her, although I respect why you dcided to and appreciate the explanation. At least Ai can continue to work with her a bit more and I’m sure you’ll be present in the background on that. I hope when she comes to visit Ai that you and Ai are able to make her understand how good the content can be tell her story there on the mountain. Not from the point of view of “Look how poor life is here and how hard” but rather from the perspective how good and nice the people are in spite of that and how they are able to find ways to make a decent enough life with what they have. There is loads of untapped content potential there as most of what I see on other channels about the Phillipeans is about how cheaply foreigners can live there and how male foreigners can score a young beautiful wife because so many woman there are so desperate to tap into a better life. That content has it’s place and done right isn’t too bad but there is so, so much more that I don’t see anyone really touching. I’m also reaching out to you in comments here (I hope you read your comments) because I was really bothered by the plastic friends and the bullying aspect of Gel’s storey. I would like someone to point out to Gel that the bullies are really projecting their own felings onto Gel when they say those things. The look at her and her best qualities and think “what would hurt my feelings if I were her and someone said mean things to me?” So when they say she’s ugly it really means they think she’s pretty, when they say she’s fat it really means they think she’s slender, when they say she’s stupid they really think she’s smart which should be obvious to Gel because of all the people who are nice to her so they can copy of her and the fact she’s averaging around 94%, that’s a straight A student here in the US. Also when they say she’s poor, her bullies are likely just as poor as her but Gel is rich in ways they would never understand. The way Gel is rich iss in all the ways that she charmed you in that first video, with her respect, her, thoughtfulness, her kindness etc. She’s spiritually rich and that’s a richness nobody can take away from her. It would be so wonderful if you and Ai could help her become a YouTube sensation I too see the potential and imagine the wonderful transformmmation that could make in her family’s life and in her own life for knowing she was able to do that for her family. So please teach her as well as you can. Even though you have to remove yourself from her as far as your own content there will be grat blessings for you and Ai in the future if you can help Gel be what both you and I think she can be. Oh and my idea for Gel’s channel name is either Angelic Perspective or even just Angelic.
I read every word, Mark. I appreciate that you see my vision with such precision. Gel and her family cam by yesterday to make some contents with Ai and I was working effortlessly with her father to get her channel up and all the precautionary steps that I felt mandatory. We are just about 70% done but they had to leave this afternoon. I also have a subscriber who is a web developer who reached out offering to donate his expertise in his rightful field. I have a scheduled call with him in about 48 hrs to go over ideas.
In regards to Gel, I will always be in her life as a mentor. She has a heart of gold and pursue philanthropy at her young age.
In regards to the bullying and stuff… we do guide her but she’s 12 at the end of the day. She will always have things to be self conscious or insecure about. But I feel he have it well monitored and continue to mentor and give her proper guidance.

@Q Adventures I’m glad to hear the things you say in your reply, Gel in my opinion is a rare treasure in this world (although I’m sure many other undiscovered similar treasures exist in this world) in that her innocense is unspoiled by the realities more worldly people like ourselves are all too aware of, unfortunately. It gives me comfort to know that you and Ai will continue to be working closely with her well into the future to help protect her and to help her family know how to protect her. After seeing how the relatively mild bullying she experiences at school effects her it sends a cold chill down my spine to think of what the types of things trolls and haters say in comments might do to her. As far as the bullies go, I do realize that being so young and innocent she will always have things to be self concious about, or at least for a long time until she becomes older. I merely try to offer up a tool that helped me when I was young and had to suffer the taunts of bullies. It always bothered me that why would these people say such mean things unless there was something to it. It’s easy to ignore when you’re real friends and family tell you nice things because you expect them to be nce to you. No parent is ever going to tell their child “sorry dear but I hate to break it to you, you are ugly.” So when they tell you you’re not it’s easy to think they’re just saying that because they love you. In my own case it helped a lot to remove the sting from the bullies words when someone explained to me that they were really just picking the words that they felt would hurt them if they were me. That’s all I’ll say on the subject though, now that I know you an Ai will be watching over her a long time to come. I’ll share one last thing with you. I’m 63 and living on disability, as such here in the US life is a struggle on the limited income I get from Social Security Disability Insurance. This led me to start looking into other places to live where my money might go farther and of course that led me to videos about the Philippines. So I’ve been seeing a lot of the typical content coming out about that part of the world and much of it is very disturbing. The poverty, the way women there basically sell themselves to try to get a better life and the foreigners and yes even YouTubers who try to capitalize on all that for either their own personal desires or to promote their channels. Yet I also see there is a lot about the Philippines that is good and beautiful and equally worthy of being brought to the world’s attention. So it is good to know that there are people like you there who see the good things too and try to promote that as well. Alas I will likely never make it to the Phillipines because while I could live more affordably there I doubt I could handle the climate and maintain my health with the health issues I have. Otherwise I might consider coming there and becoming a YouTuber myself to also promote the good things there. I don’t know what your religious beliefs are but I pray God blesses you for the good works you’re attempting to do there. Sorry for the long reply but if you get to know much about me you’ll know such long replies are practically my signature. 😀

I want a Filipina like Ai you are so fortunate Derek, I can’t believe how I spent my entire life putting up with American women, I’ve been disappointed all my life with them they are so selfish and ungrateful its disgusting, I’ve been single for around 30 years after my wife abandoned me with two children and now that they are all grown up its my turn, I’m going to prepare myself for a visit to the Philippines hopefully next year
