My experience as a disabled person of Ken’s age flying back to UK was a nightmare. From the staff on the British Airways flight to the aggressive behaviour of ground staff at Heathrow and then a botched operation and a further 6 months wait for another.
Called the ambulance once. Waited 5 hours. At A&E waited another 3 hours in agony. The A&E department was full of drunks and people on drugs. If you asked the admin staff anything they snapped at you because they are under such pressure. Later having to use public transport I realised how dangerous the country has become. Gangs of robbers roam freely as do pickpockets. I noticed Ken keeps his wallet in his back pocket. Not a good idea.
I hope he will be taken care of properly over there.
And I hope he can make it back to the Phillipines where he will be much safer. Personally I’m scared to go back again.

Good question. “After the fact” is important. Hence my ideal demographic are local youths. Ken being there and I am here, I cannot do the impossible and sacrifice 10’s of youths to peace 1 elderly

I am not going to lie i cried watching this, seeing him leave was sad i could feel his pain, i wanted to come to airport as i live close by but didnt want to disurb. I am British i can assure you Ken will be extremely well looked after, we have excelent care for our elderly he will i am sure be in a lovely care home and treated like royalty fed nice warm meals and 24hr care. My grandma always said she will never go into care, she spent few days there after a fall and never left lol she absolute loves it. Ken will be very popular hundreds of stories to tell. I really hope we get to hear more about Ken so sad if we dont. Thank you to you beautiful hearted people who all helped Ken and all the people who donated.

I followed this story from the start and when Ken said to Derek at the airport “When will I meet you again” and the final handshake made emotional. I’m very happy that Ken is on his way to UK for their treatment he desperately needs, but also very sad, I would be very surprise in his state that they will let him return to the Philippines, he is much more frail than I originally thought. At this point in his life I would think that he would be much better off staying in the UK for the rest of his days, at least they are he will get the medical treatment he needs. I pray to God that he will get all the needs that he needs, and hopefully someday will see him on another day. will never need to go back. Two of our friends sold their homes, ended bank accounts, tried to do a business
over here with their Filipino wife. Total failure, lucky they were young enough to go back and get a job and start over.

who is the Filipina lady that Ken is staying with? I am a bit leery of her. Was she treating Ken badly by not giving him enough food and supplements? Was she stealing from his retirement pension? I think I am probably not alone in feeling bad thoughts about that lady.

I’m concerned about how Ken will be treated in the UK . There are long waiting lists for accommodation and medical treatment.
The society as a whole is less considerate.
Wales has changed radically since he was last there. He is in for a shock !
However if the media take an interest in his story he will be ok.

Ken has gotten a New chance on Life all because of Derek and Ai taking a after dinner walk rallying all the community, some special people bringing it to our attention. Ken will be ok everyone, ken is overwhelmed by all the unnecessary stuff, the U.K government have a duty of care to take care of ken, as ken is a citizen of the U.K, by law he has to be taken care of, everything is free when he gets home,. Well done Q for supporting this gentleman.

However what he needed was access to his US social security and his UK pension, then he could have afforded to stay in the Philippines.
Sending him to the UK to a welfare and health system that is already failing in the lead up to winter, is unfortunate.
I doubt the volunteers receiving him realise the commitment they have made.
There is a Panorama program on TV tonight about how bad Nursing Home care is, not that Ken will get funding for a £1000 a week placement.
He still hasn’t got access to his US social security.
Staying in the Philippines means he will remain an illegal without resources and a burden to the locals. Even if he gets funded with his back pay, he will exhaust his finances in paying immigration penalties alone. Then he will be vulnerable to the next predator, then back to square 1

I hope that the old man will find his health again in Wales. What can be said is that you have already helped him a long way, both physically and mentally. Let’s hope that everything is good on the inside as well. What I do want to say is, and I follow many blogs, is that there are also a lot of Filipinos in these circumstances. It’s like that if you don’t have money for health problems at that age, you figure it out.
One more note, you are doing a good job, and these things are not your fault and we all know that this is a drop in the ocean. So I thank you for the progress for this man who I had to watch in horror how this man had to live. Thank you

My experience as a disabled person of Ken’s age flying back to UK was a nightmare. From the staff on the British Airways flight to the aggressive behaviour of ground staff at Heathrow and then a botched operation and a further 6 months wait for another.
Called the ambulance once. Waited 5 hours. At A&E waited another 3 hours in agony. The A&E department was full of drunks and people on drugs. If you asked the admin staff anything they snapped at you because they are under such pressure. Later having to use public transport I realised how dangerous the country has become. Gangs of robbers roam freely as do pickpockets. I noticed Ken keeps his wallet in his back pocket. Not a good idea.
I hope he will be taken care of properly over there.
And I hope he can make it back to the Phillipines where he will be much safer. Personally I’m scared to go back again.

I am not going to lie i cried watching this, seeing him leave was sad i could feel his pain, i wanted to come to airport as i live close by but didnt want to disurb. I am British i can assure you Ken will be extremely well looked after, we have excelent care for our elderly he will i am sure be in a lovely care home and treated like royalty fed nice warm meals and 24hr care. My grandma always said she will never go into care, she spent few days there after a fall and never left lol she absolute loves it. Ken will be very popular hundreds of stories to tell. I really hope we get to hear more about Ken so sad if we dont. Thank you to you beautiful hearted people who all helped Ken and all the people who donated.

I’m a fellow Welshman that was recently in the Philippines. I can’t thank you all enough for helping Ken return home. I followed this story from the start and when Ken said to Derek at the airport “When will I meet you again” and the final handshake made emotional. I’m very happy that Ken is on his way to UK for their treatment he desperately needs, but also very sad, I would be very surprise in his state that they will let him return to the Philippines, he is much more frail than I originally thought. At this point in his life I would think that he would be much better off staying in the UK for the rest of his days, at least they are he will get the medical treatment he needs. I pray to God that he will get all the needs that he needs, and hopefully someday will see him on another day. I’m concerned about how Ken will be treated in the UK . There are long waiting lists for accommodation and medical treatment.
The society as a whole is less considerate.
Wales has changed radically since he was last there. He is in for a shock !

I had to go back for a series of operations. It was a terrifying experience. I never want to go there again.
Ken has gotten a New chance on Life all because of Derek and Ai taking a after dinner walk rallying all the community, some special people bringing it to our attention. You made such a BIG Impact as it brought me to tears when he asked when he would see you again. I pray his trip goes smoothly and he gets the Help he needs. Tears of joy for witnessing Mr. Ken escorted, on wheelchair, towards flight to UK, finally.😂 However, his body language simultaneously discerned imminent heavy hearted farewell. 😢 In the absence of alive immediate relatives, hopefully, Mr. Ken would get favorable well being continuity of care, anywhere. Godspeed for Mr. Ken! Derek earns highest accolades and recognitions for his humanitarian assistance!

When you first met Ken, he seemed more conscious of his surroundings and he spoke well, today his mental awareness has deteriorated a lot.
Thank you for finding him as the quick deterioration that he has experienced would have been life threatening if you had not of taken him onboard and taken care of him.
You may perhaps misread the situation. Ken had a lot of worries about the flight and not knowing what’s to come back in London

However what he needed was access to his US social security and his UK pension, then he could have afforded to stay in the Philippines.
Sending him to the UK to a welfare and health system that is already failing in the lead up to winter, is unfortunate.
I doubt the volunteers receiving him realise the commitment they have made.
There is a Panorama program on TV tonight about how bad Nursing Home care is, not that Ken will get funding for a £1000 a week placement.
He still hasn’t got access to his US social security.
Staying in the Philippines means he will remain an illegal without resources and a burden to the locals. Even if he gets funded with his back pay, he will exhaust his finances in paying immigration penalties alone. Then he will be vulnerable to the next predator, then back to square 1
@@qadventures He will be even more underfunded in real terms in the UK. He is heading for a miserably isolated life, in a county that is not respectful of its elders. Its going to be a cold depressing place, in more ways than one.

I hope that the old man will find his health again in Wales. What can be said is that you have already helped him a long way, both physically and mentally. Let’s hope that everything is good on the inside as well. What I do want to say is, and I follow many blogs, is that there are also a lot of Filipinos in these circumstances. It’s like that if you don’t have money for health problems at that age, you figure it out.
One more note, you are doing a good job, and these things are not your fault and we all know that this is a drop in the ocean. So I thank you for the progress for this man who I had to watch in horror how this man had to live. Thank you
